Rigg is 5 years his junior, Cirkin does not have the same ceiling as Rigg

I wish people would stop talking about 'ceilings'in football, especially when we haven't got any real idea what those ceilings could possibly be and it's based on nothing more than assumptions. There's been far too much of it on here over the last few years and then as soon as we reach the PL the club have moved on or dumped half the players (generally believing they're not PL quality) who were gonna be fantastic making mugs of those earlier comments.

Rigg could stop growing about now and not gain anymore strength, speed etc and never get to the level Cirkin is or has been. Before we make any daft predictions about him I'd like to see him have two or three months of reasonable form. I wonder if Rigg would be inclided in Spurs squad and get positive comments from Jose the way Cirkin did a few years ago.

Rigg is a better player than Cirkin already imo. Obviously different positions though.

He isn't anywhere close to it. Cirkin has had injury problems often in his time here and he saw a drop off of form last season as did the entire squad. But Dennis could easily hold his own in the championship and has done that - Rigg hasn't even come close yet.

In fact its got to the stage where outside the young England sides Rigg really needs to show people he has potential again.

I disagree.

I did say a while back that we wouldn't be seeing him for a while, and that it wasn't connected to his wrist.

I think even Riggy would admit that

Yeh, due to our needs and hot housing his personal development in the Championship he was playing every game, basically in line with being an established player while still only a bairn. His stats were those of the kid he actually is. There's the "conflict" right there for me. It'll be interesting to see both how he responds and how we handle his progress now we're back with the big lads.

I don't think he's really good enough for the PL anyway. If he was normally fit he could be decent back-up but no more than that. I'd imagine he'll have to drop back to the Championship if he runs his contract down.

Said just after the play offs that whole Cirkin/Alese/Huggins/Hjelde situation needed to be addressed and imo was a priority. No way we would have got away with wrapping Cirkin in cotton wool, getting the odd game out of Alese then resorting to the competition winner Hjelde in this league. Reinildo is simply on another level and Massuaku once up to speed will be decent. I just don’t see Cirkin featuring very often if at all.
May have to put Ballard on to that list but we have CB options I suppose

He only turned 18 a couple of months ago ago for Christ sake

He is, but what @Perryqhill posted is true.

I love Rigg, I think he could end up being really top class but he hasn't really consistently put performances together. There was a spell at the start of maybe last season I think (where he scored the backheel goal) and he was looking special, but he had a few injuries, form dipped & never consistently got going again.

Cirkin was a main stay left back when he wasn't injured.

But It isn’t true. A 17 year old having a dip while playing loads of football is totally normal. He does not need to show people he has potential

I'm not sure if I have missed something previously in the thread, the post I was referring to was a poster saying Rigg is better than Cirkin, @Perryqhill responded that isn't true, and I agree with him. I'm not saying he won't be, but he hasn't consistently put performances together to say he's a better player right now than Cirkin.

Rigg will go on to be a £25million plus player, something Cirkin will get no where near, Rigg also has played a lot more games in the championship than Cirkin over the past two seasons so how can his consistency be questioned, he was an integral part of a team promoted from the championship his argument is flawed.
