The Iron Claw

Late 70s early 80s film about the wrestling family the Von Erich's.

A bit before my time, but I had heard of the Texas Tonado. It's a brilliant film, the dad pushing his sons hard to win the title he never could (ranking his sons 🤣) . Great performances from all the main cast, this is a tragic story. Being critical the heaven scene was not needed, and the scene with his sons at the end did that job 1000 times better, also the actor playing Rick Flair was shite. Overall though this is the best wrestling film I've ever seen and a solid 9/10.

Decision to Leave (2022) 9/10
Thanks to @Cockney Mackem for getting me to bump this up my watch list. First rate psychological thriller, as to be expected from Park Chan-wook.

High and Low (1963) 10/10
In preparation for the next film, rewatched this with the commentary from Kurosawa expert Stephen Prince. Plenty of insights into the use of particular lenses, the pros and cons of filming long takes with two cameras, and the subsequent editing choices. Great way to see the film afresh.

Spike Lee's remake of the above. Not bad, though some major plot holes (eg who are all the perp's accomplices?), and a questionable decision by Lee to give Denzel Washington an action sequence rather than - as Kurosawa did - making police procedure central.

The King - Netflix

Edgerton, mandelsohn, a brilliant Timmy Chalamet and as always the top class Sean Harris

About the rise to the thrown of king Henry V and the battle of agincourt - I love out like this, reet sucker for it. Class speech by the king before the battle. Great score too.

Solid 7.5/10 from the cobra
 
Wake in Fright 1971.

A teacher in the Australian outback finishes term and gets drunk and gambles all his coin and has to hang about with the locals along the way. .

Just a very odd film and I'm pretty sure the first time I watched it will have been late at night on C4, early 90s.
 
Watched the new Jurassic World tonight.

If you're after Dinosaurs and Scarlett Johannson it could be for you.

If you're after a fleshed out story I'd give it a miss.

I turned it off halfway through,Denzel is normally a great watch,but the plot seems a bit off,I last saw Denzel boarding the train with the $17.5 mill.

Loved this when I saw this years ago, and really wanted to go see it when a newly remastered edition was released in limited cinemas a month or two ago. Sadly no cinemas near me were showing it, so have had to wait for it to be available to buy on streaming.

Pleased to say it's still as brilliant as it was back when I first saw it, and looks glorious in ultra HD. Possibly my favourite music biopic, though the purists will argue that it's probably more fiction than actual fact!

Very generous, utter cack. I mean I liked the first ones, it was my type of stupid humour. This just doesn't work, it almost like an impersonator do 90s stupid humour
