Unforgiven (1992) 10/10
Thirty years since I last saw this. Superb revisionist Western, with Clint Eastwood as an aging gunfighter trying to put his past behind him but lured into one last job. Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, and Richard Harris all on top form in supporting roles.

Unforgiven is the best western made for me. What a cast.

I remember trying to read Congo after I’d read Jurassic Park. I didn’t get far.
I remember trying to read Jurassic Park and thinking it was boring. He's not my kind of writer.
Match Point [2005] 3/10
Predictable, overly melodramatic pish, full of terrible dialogue and bad acting. Bloody awful. Straight to the bottom of the Woody list.

I'm guessing you haven't seen Cassandra's Dream? It's spectacularly terrible.

Just watched the newish Aki Kaurismaki film. Autumn Leaves. As strange and deadpan as most of his films. I think he is still portraying the Helsinki of the 1980's. On a lighter note tho Buenos Aires bar featured in the film, is his very own bar...and i've been in that very bar.

Still a seven out of ten tho.

Is anyone else a fan.

Naked (1993)

Grim but good.

Spotted Toby Jones as an extra.

Godfather trilogy

1. 7/10 good, but not a classic imho

3. Boring, dull and nee need 4/10…Andy Garcia man ffs

2. Class Pacino and de Niro reminding me how magnificent they used to be, thought Pacino was immense, brooding dodgepot. De Niro back before he became a caricature also immense. 9/10

Only half way through his back catalogue, not come across that one yet!

I absolutely love Unforgiven and it would definitely make my list of favourite Westerns. The others that would make my list would be

The Wild Bunch
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
Django Unchained
Rio Bravo
High Noon
The Long Riders
Ride the High Country
The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford
High Plains Drifter
Blazing Saddles
Shenandoah
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
The Searchers

The Outlaw Josey Wales is my pick. Currently got my finger poised over the Buy Now button on the 4k Blu Ray of that

Good list. No Shane? Loved that.

O.K don't shoot me (see what I did there.)

But I love Destry rides again.

A sort of weird western that the studio forced both Jimmy Stewart and Marlene Dietrich to do, with beautiful singing Marlene.

My favourite tho???????

Probably High Noon.

Love The Magnificent Seven too

Superb list. However, not many spaghettis there! No Great Silence?

Some corkers there. I'd add The Quick And The Dead (really love that film) and Dances With Wolves as well.
Does Hateful Eight class as a western? I'd have that too.
