SOL expansion

Find a photo of the stadium that shows the West and North stand. Now get your lass to give you a lend of her small handbag mirror. Hold the mirror across the photo and be amazed when you see the all round extension! šŸ˜Ž
Genius
Could stick two tiers of boxes at the back of a single tier stand, would be a great sell for those wanting a more ā€œatmosphericā€ corporate experience
No reason they couldnt carry the boxes along the east to be fair if it was financially viable/profitable, might lose however many hundreds (maybe thousands of seats in the east) But the seats then in the south upper would more than make up for that. Full stadium ring of boxes is doable in my eyes. Might look a bit shit from outside the east but is what it is.

Mind I still think we should make the south stand one single stand and avoid the tiered approach. Might impact on the inclusion of boxes however unless they can be placed at the back of the stand.
Can’t regularly fill the South Stand as it is the knars
However if it could be filled every home game it would be tremendous

Ridiculous suggestion without adding a stand

Anyone know how long it would take and how many fans seats might be displaced if work overlapped into the season? I tried to find how long it took to extend the North Stand back in the day, but couldn't find it

My memory is bad from that time, was along time ago, but didn't feel like it was long

I asked similar question a while ago and the answer I got was the amount about fans displaced was virtually zero since it's just taking the roof of it and adding the top tier above it.

I think you lose around 5 rows at the back, North stand took around 1 season to complete. Probably one of the reasons it’s so relatively inexpensive to do compared with other stadiums as they can sometimes take 2 - 3 seasons to complete

Can’t see this happening unless we’re in the Prem for a good number of years, even then if we were a steady Prem team I think the enthusiasm would die off if we didn’t push on

Thats good, so people in the Roker End will just get wet for a season. Lets crack on! ;)
Something tells me that the owners are seriously considering this, obviously consolidation this season is key, stay up and I think it will be all systems go.

Feels like this to me as well. All for it.

North took 8 months, January - end of August. Rows 42-44 at the back of the South Stand will be the only ones displaced to allow for the construction of the overhang part of the extension and them seats wont exist anymore following the extension as with the North Stand row 41 becomes the back row with the concourse/bar area behind.

Always going to be a chicken and egg situation regarding success of team, finance available etc
I’m sure the figures will have been looked at but easier/safer to delay.
Doesn’t bother me if an extended stadium wasn’t full every week, no different to Roker Park in the 60/70’s.
Hopefully the lower bowl would be full to create a decent atmosphere as has been the case at times in past when the Premier Concourse was empty. Might help visually if seats were black with crest/ cats/ cats eyes insets incorporated, perhaps even use tifos if areas empty.
Better fit for purpose concourses and modern look glazed exterior elevations would be great.

Good knowledge!
