This is so smooth. It doesn’t taste like a 10% drink. Typical for a milk stout, I suppose.
I’ve enjoyed it more than the one yesterday. All of the flavour notes are present and correct, especially the rum.
Those brew York one offs are generally lovely.
Their stouts are head and shoulders above most of the other stuff they do
Brew York was probably my entry point into craft stouts. Used to buy them blindly when they released a new one. Haven’t bothered as much recently, but Empress Tonkoko is probably one of my favourite drinks out still.
I don't even consider their non-stout offerings to be honest. Their pales and whatnot are very bland.
gonna make you post a little pukey green man face here, but the empress with the cherry in it is magnificient. Completely responsible for a biblical argument about train times, and ultimately missing it on the way back from York

I've gone off BY in the main. Loved them at first, particularly the stouts. Now I find most too adjunct heavy/sickly and can only stomach a couple. Only dive in when in York now for the bait really.
I concur. Again this has more been an evolution of palette over time. Or they've got worse. Remember rather enjoying the Forsyth when it first came out.

Absolute arseholes. Was in yday. Really busy, bit of live music, some good beers in from Marble and Vedant as well as the Vaux gear.
It's a shame, as it's such a beautiful building, but businesses need to go with shutters on doors/windows these days with the tramps about.

Mad how often they're getting done over down there as well. Pop Recs have had nothing but bother for years. I'm guessing it's the same set of pond life scum who are behind it as well.

Had some lovely beers in Athens this weekend. Been to two specialist beer places (brew street and barley cargo). Got some nights on an island then back to Athens for 2 nights and hoping to get to some tap rooms
I was there just after the play offs. Was a wedding, so time to explore was a bit limited.
Went to Barley Cargo & had a padel, there was a topper taproom around the corner from our apartment called Paragon Brewery too.
Getting quiet on here.
I’m off to Eindhoven in a couple of weeks & will sample stuff.
Let’s get a conversation going. First beer to get you into craft. I’d had Punk IPA & thought it was shite. My first one was the Evil Twin x BrewDog Vietnamese Coffee Stout from Tesco during Covid. That was a f***ing belter. £3 a can too. Bargain.

I forgot to post photos of the results of that Fizzics machine I bought. Since it's the start of Oktoberfest today here's a silly Czech-style Mliko pour of an Augustiner to showcase its big foam abilities. You can see the bubble size is super tiny which creates this nice wet foam.
From a bit of playing around it is class with lagers, adds creaminess to IPAs/pales, and works well to turn most bottles ales into less carbonated messes. It can't save things like Guinness original which are so overly carbonated though, I tried that last night.
Obviously you don't need to pour everything with such a massive head but it's far more fun to do it with the lagers.
