Newcastle United 🇸🇦 v 🔴 Liverpool EPL Sky Sports Main Event/Sky Sports Premier League Kick off 20:00

What a sad state of affairs.

I mean the Brazilian national team that a clogger like him is part of the set up
The Brazilian team has been shite for a while now. Even the youngins don't refer to them as the absolute elite. Roll back 20 years and if your team played well it was always 'like watching brazil' and the even youngins that do Brazilian soccer schools have no idea who did the tricks.

Agreed. I think it's not been helped VVD (apparently) subsequently saying a yellow would've sufficed.

But yes, I don't know where people are coming from with the anti VAR patter. In real time the ref might not have fully appreciated how bad it was. VAR can look at it. And then ask the ref to have another look. All of which happened.

Upon seeing it again the ref would've had to have been blind to not think it was a red.

The system worked perfectly, allowed the referee to make a call with clear vision on it, and resulted in the correct decision.
It was a red. VVD could actually have made a lot more of it.

If you mean the Gordon challenge, I have just watched the highlights as finished at 2pm and that tackle was dangerous as feck. How anyone can say Gordons Red was harsh I w don't understand. They zoomed in on it and VVD had stud marks raked down his calf all the way. To land your tackling foot that high and follow through means VVD is a very lucky bloke to not have a season ending injury there. It was a diabolical tackle TBH
And my original point was some still think VAR makes decisions/over rules the ref (hence The Cartel/corruption patter). It doesn't. The decision is with the referee. VAR simply aids him in order to give the ref the best chance of making the correct call.

Enjoyed last night and in particular the young mans winner bustling into the net, but it was tinged with the sadness that we are going to get humped twice off them this season.

First time I’ve actually watched the scruffs since we were last in the PL and unfortunately they’re miles ahead now. Arnly took half a billion blood money to achieve it mind.
Gerrin!…FC Bisto is here! Love a bit of pathetic bullshit.

Strange thing to say and I saw VVD actually sort of pat him on the back as he was walking off . Very strange as it was a a horrible cowards challenge and I can't upload pics but it showed you the stud damage marks all down his calf.

On a side note it looked like they were metal studs but are they even allowed nowadays? I always thought they banned them, though I am not saying he has done them illegally or owt, but can anyone else freeze frame the stud arks to VVD. I am shocked if VVD has said that, but then again it probably makes sense to tap up Gordon with that sort of response just like he tapped up Isaac the great after the Milk cup win for the Mags. VVD knows Gordon wants to come as well so probably very clever TBH

We've all seen the marks he left on him.

Was mentioned on here yday but I'm reading now and VVD is quoted as saying it was a clear red.

Edit. Here:

Eric Bistow pretending to be a Sunderland supporter. Wad ya dare!?

I can accept its likely you will beat us twice and are a lot better than us without being a complete tatey.

In an alternate timeline, Newcastle sell Isak to Liverpool for £110m, and reinvest. Isak starts for Liverpool last night, but he gets a warm reception as they've reinvested the money into 2-3 players including Etikite. A well-drilled Newcastle comfortably beat an out-of-sorts Liverpool, setting themselves up for a great season ahead.

Instead, the club have made the same mistake that has always held Newcastle back - they've listened to the fans. Together, they spend a summer getting wound up over imagined outrages and invented rivalries and conspiracy theories. In reality, their current predicament is down to one thing - Wor Amanda couldn't run a bath. If the club took the PSR rules seriously from Day One they could be contenders by now. Instead, they're stuck with throwing pity parties with Villa fans.

They now go into the last week of an already-disasterous transfer window with the weakest hand imaginable. Liverpool have no need to up their bid, and the likes of Wolves / Brentford can name their price for Larsson and Wissa. All because the club have happily went along with the fans' delusions about where they sit in the pecking order. A paper-thin squad, a toxic prospect for new signings and a Champions League campaign to manage too.
Pandering to the fans (let him rot in the reserves etc) has got them nowhere. It’s not a solution at all. They’re in the Champions League in a few weeks and don’t have a striker in the squad.

Definitely a red and definitely 2 yellows for the other 2 fouls
The Trippier one, seen loads of red cards dished out for exactly the same, studs up right into the shin.
Yet the mags only see the Liverpool ones and conveniently ignore their fouls. Even that yellow for Konate (gif below), when you look at it closely you can see the dark arts. Bruno sticks his foot well into the path of Konate (possibly even catches his Konate's calf) as he knows Konate is coming in. He then rolls away in agony, screaming and clutching his shin yet that didn't get touched. Yet 30 seconds later when the free kick is being taken then he's up and about as it's job done and he's drawn the yellow card from the ref.

This is why he's one of the most fouled players as he's actually good at this and he puts some of the WWE stuff to shame with his theatrics of making it look worse than it is. Look at his leg as turns and bends his knee as he turns so he doesn't get hurt. Though it's stupid in a way as he could easily be seriously injured sticking a leg out like that.

He may be fouled often but as we've seen he's also a dirty fucker. I was looking at the Tonali incident and this happens just before as he catches Ekitike's heel. He isn't taking a step as you see him stretch but he's never reaching that ball. Ekitike and Tonali tangled right after.

It was also in the penna box and we've seen Gordon pull the same stunt of getting a foot in between the ball and the player. Difference is that Ekitike didn't roll about like a fanny, like Gordon would to fool the ref into giving the penna and given the contact then VAR wouldn't ask him ower.

Here's another in the 81st minute as he doesn't win the ball so then clearly lashes out and kicks Chiesa's so yet another yellow card missed. Ref looking straight at it and it's a yellow all day long, though I think the ref bottled this one as he knows it would have be a 2nd yellow and therefore a red and there would be absolute hell on. These are just the few I've seen skipping through the game but I've seen enough of him to know what he's like. Though saying all that, dark arts aside he's a great player and puts everything in and we'd love that kind of passion and work rate here. Dan Burn is another who is good at the dark arts.

They can use metal studs up to a certain length.

Rooney got warned in 2022 wearing long studs that he stupidly said he did in order to cause an injury

The ref has a clear and unobstructed view from approx ten yards and bottled it.

Watching on bein sports and they interviewed Van Dyke and he came out with “ It was a physical game , that’s the PL , a yellow would have been OK for that tackle it’s a man’s game”.
Summerbee in the studio thought that was class from Van Dyke.
He said something very different to Gordon. "If that's not a red, I don't know what is" according to BBC Sport
