What was your view of Darren Bent's antics prior to joining us in the summer of 2009?

Lucumi, Diarra, Xhaka and co aren't hanging around here if we go down. There'll be far more than him away.

Why, have you seen his contract like?

Not sure why all the facts here are taken as gospel, not a single one of us has a clue. Obviously his agent and lawyers feel they have enough credibility with their claim to use it leverage, even if it’s ultimately vexatious. The point I was making is - we don’t know.

As for why football is different - it is now. But we are one or two seasons away from the ruling where it is not. The cases against FIFA and UEFA are well advanced in various human rights courts. We are in for a big, Bosman-level shake up. It’s coming. I actually don’t see any other way that regulation will adapt other than salary caps. We will have to regulate clubs, not players.

He's an odd one, was loved at Sevilla I think it was in la liga but villa fans seemed really iffy about him, seen a few say he was never the same after a lengthy injury
