Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Weird they opened it for the lasses egg catching, but not the West Ham game though.
Not weird at all. It's been explained plenty of times on the thread.
The Rugby is a worldwide showcase event with a planned fans parade over the bridge which will be beamed across the world. It was always the plan and when it was first mooted, we had no way of knowing we would be in the Premier League.
They are working their nuts off to get it ready in time, no way would it have been ready for Saturday and certainly wouldn't have been a week earlier for the Championship kick off.

I have no interest in the rugby and would have loved it to have been open on Saturday, but I fully understand the reasoning.

Mainly Wearmouth Bridge but some of Keel Crossing.
I have more footage for a Keel Crossing video that I'll edit later.

Absolutely love my city

People saying it’s open Friday for the rugby, is that for everyone or is it only people involved in some sort of ceremony?

Lots of separate trades working on it often based throughout the UK. Not always easy to source these. I would rather it was built and fitted out properly than rushed.
Dont be daft harbour boy could of knocked it up in half the time out his lego set
