PSR whinging

Was talking to a Mag at work on Friday about PSR and it’s like they have all been brainwashed and read the same script he was crying and talking about Big 6 Cartel, We are screwed with PSR, our owners obviously don’t understand PSR, Why would Isak want to go to Liverpool, and he’s not that good anyway, after the display we made for him . I also noticed his Isak screensaver is now Bruno.
I explained that Liverpool and Chelsea, his main culprits, had sold over 100 million each so far this window so it’s about buying players with resale value. I then pointed out that in 3 games Ballards value had trebled, he said I was full of shit and walked out 😂

This first year after shrewd/frugal financial management and an "unlikely" promotion, may be the most important in our history.

We have an incredible opportunity, providing our DoF and SD get it right with these initial buys.

Of course we will have to trade in coming years, but it looks to me that, Xhaka aside, we've targeted players that will only grow in value. We'll probably need a couple of them to become top 6 capable players to pull it off, and that is certainly a possibility.

I'm so very excited to see if we pull it off, and I think many neutrals are too.

We arent doing anything wrong or unfair, but I'd imagine that there are plenty of clubs looking at our business and regretting that they didn't appoint the right people and go about it in the same way as we have.

Now rules against countries owning clubs I agree with.

The top 4 is becoming a closed shop, the premier league is becoming a closed shop.

I think we have a good chance of staying up because we’ve recruited really well. Can’t see Burnley or Leeds staying up,

The rules as they are not making the league more competitive.

Leicester far more so than Blackburn. Blackburn were an early prototype of a club buying their way to the top of the league thanks to a sugar daddy, Leicester much more a unique combination of a whole set of factors aligning at the right time.

The only purely "fair" approach would be to have an egalitarian annual spending cap (say 200M per year) for fees & a flat wage budget for each club to play with. Of course, that won't happen for commercial reasons as you'll get all the clubs & PL moaning that it stops them competing with European clubs, but that's the way if levelling the playing field is the true objective.

Until then, what we have now is the least worst solution. Because the alternative is letting state-owned clubs run riot, inflating fees across the board and putting more clubs out of business trying to keep up with the inflationary cycle.
 
There definitely has to be limits on spending but PSR is a bit shit. I particularly don’t like how it incentivises clubs to sell homegrown players. Not sure what the solution is really.

It was indeed obvious. I think they're jsut annoyed that they've lost an academy product. One of the frustrations for fans is that academy players are worth more in PSR terms than signings.

We got to the prem on the back of a similar recruitment strategy. Continue it at a higher level and we can go far fairly quickly.

and its good for every clubs for not getting bankrupts etc. You see Man Utd are on debts and are at risk of buying big of cunha, mbembo and sesko. Massive risks otherwise things will get worse in the next 2 years if they dont succeed. They need to win games to get into champion league position to have that rewards. It is a big ask.
 
Not sure there's a right answer because of the money involved now. Some sort of sustainability rules are needed but I agree with everyone who worries it just entrenches the power of the richest clubs.

I think it would be beneficial if some of the Sky money or rules recognised clubs who have a good youth academy and support young talent, but there needs to be a way to stop e.g. Man City hoarding young and homegrown players who never actually get a game. Biased based on our current team but having x number of players under 23 in your actual playing squad for this league should give clubs a bigger proportion of the TV money

They've spent 132 million (plus whatever loan fee they've spent on Ramsdale) and only brought in a little over 30 million from sales and still seem to have money to spend, if they can find someone to come.

Obviously, they're not happy with the Isak situation but that's not directly related to PSR.
