Durham's one day cup campaign

We won the county championship with a team composed largely of academy products. Since North took over we haven't one academy product who has established himself in any form of senior cricket. That's a major concern and a justifiable gripe. We'll never progress long term without a viable academy and relying on buying or loaning in.

I’d take div 2 cricket for a team of local lads But people on this board wouldn’t it’s hard to have it both ways

Sorry like but Weve literally had Potts snd Carse in England side, and McKinney in the lions and he’s certainly played a part in 2 of them
We've been resting players, dropping players after very good performances and Bedingham wasn't even registered at the start of the competition. That doesn't seem to be taking it massively seriously to me.

So don’t pick bedingham when he’s available?

bostock has undoubtedly done a very good job like

I’ve no idea how people csn suggest otherwise, we were on our absolute knees financially, and now are extremely strong. He’s just rubbed up a minority with some direct comments

North I agree never been sold on 100% myself

We are taking it seriously, look at the batting line up we picked

People seem to forget the 100

Can't agree on Bostock. I credit Botham with a lot of the good work, his name sold Durham to a lot of companies and people. Since he's gone Bostock, Collins and North are ploughing on with the franchise fascination all whilst continuing to treat members with absolutely no respect at all as proven a couple of weeks ago then a month earlier with that absolutely ridiculous statement which as we all know was 100% lies.

The council bailed this club out and a lot of members forfeited good money during covid to help keep the club running, and he's spoken about us and treated us like shite.

He appointed Bostock. Bostock has turned the club around financially he’s done a brilliant job on that front, and the future or the club financially is very good

this post has just 100% proved my point hes put your noise out of joint with a few comments and now you are rewriting history.

I don’t agree with his comments btw but I can seperate the 2

I agree, having Botham involved really helped drag the club up off it's arse.

Saying that bedingham wasn’t registered is a sign we aren’t taking it seriously, we didn’t know how much he was gonna be availabe that’s why

Coughlin can’t play 3 games in a week

People looking for things that don’t exist like
Why wouldn't he just be registered anyway?

Players are being rested and dropped after good performances so not sure how you can't say they dont exist?

There's no way that Lees and Raine would be rested in the CC so it's clear that we aren't taking this competition as seriously as that one.

He literally played yesterday, what’s the problem?

People just moaning for the sake of it dunno how you can’t see that like.

The problem is that I think the late registration just points towards us not taking this competition as seriously as we should.

Not sure what you mean by "moaning for the sake of it". I've literally pointed out examples of where we've rested/dropped players who we wouldn't rest in other competitions. So how can it be "for the sake of it" when it's actually happened?

The examples aren’t valid though.

Raine plays a lot of cricket for us like do we want to break him?

Ben Raine has bowled in 12 innings since 13th June. So that's 12 innings in 9 weeks with 4 of those games being T20 where he will have bowled a maximum of 4 overs and 2 were One Day Cup games where he will have bowled a maximum of 10 overs.

Do you think that's a workload that's likely to break him?

(I love Ben Raine by the way).

Absolutely this and I don't mean to offend anyone by saying that I do worry. I've seen enough cricket this season live to come up with that view and I stand by it along with my ever consistent long term views on North & Bostock. The recent members forum and club statement alarmed me at just how ignorant those running the club were towards members and for me that's being the biggest alarm bell for me. On the pitch clearly something not right, the red ball league table doesn't lie and bowling performances like yesterday just reiterate that concern. As I've said for many years I've got no time for Bostock and North, they have no time for us as members and they seemingly are just ploughing on changing the whole traditions of the club and they don't care what anyone thinks. I include recruitment with that also which the blame lies with North, we've signed some absolute rubbish and the Killeen situation is just a huge failure for the club and speaks volumes on recent recruitment. Love the craic, always love my cricket etc but I'm struggling at the moment purely based on what I've seen and experienced this season, if that offends folk then fair do but I'm concerned at the direction of the club off the field and the genuine threat of relegation along with the progression/opportunities of the academy which I believe those running the club are slowly dismantling which I'm sure we all agree with, is a lot standing proud tradition of this club. However I stand by my view that the bowling performance yesterday was unacceptable.
Saved me typing out my opinions.

I did win £8 yesterday having backed Middlesex at 8/1 at the beginning of their innings. Small comfort.

Yes but what did he have coming up?

We play so much domestic cricket you can’t pick a bowler in every single game we play, you can’t be suggesting that surely?

It isn't just the bowling though as the travel must be tiring too and it's seven hours on a coach to Somerset

It’s just bowling like in the field n that 50 over format is tough

And yeah his body has been fucked for years how have you not noticed he’s hardly been fit to play since he came back

Shame for him

I have noticed, everyone has noticed, and if he can't get through 3 50 over games in a week then the club need looking at for bringing him back in the first place.
