Forthcoming gigs.

Think I'd have done the same but already have Ideal with Johnny Vegas booked at the FS for the night before City Hall.

Still working on the clashfinder for Green Man starting Thursday. Then This Is The Kit at Poprecs and Peter Buck/Luke Haines at the Cluny.
You going again GTG? Who’s on your list? I’m down there too

I seem to have a lot in the 'must see' column but haven't looked at how many clashes that's going to create. Stuff I'm looking forward to seeing for the first time the most are probably Big Special and Naima Bock.

Got any hot tips?

Just looking forward to being back there, though gutted about the clash with West Ham. The Saturday quiz and Pete Brown's lecture on pairing beers and bands are always highlights.

My lad is down there now stewarding in the Settlers' camp and has recommended bringing brollies down for the sun - 'Brutally hot' he reckons.

Stuff I’m most excited to see:
  • Los Campesinos!
  • WH Lung
  • Mike
  • Wunderhorse
  • Jasmine 4.t
  • MJ Lenderman (saw recently and he was magnificent)
  • caroline
  • Underworld (although this provides a massive clash with English Teacher and Richard Dawson)
  • Divorce

Will check Big Special and Naima Bock at your recs

Happy to sat that nearly all of those are in Column 1 of 3.

Forgot about this bloke - probably my favourite thing from the playlist. Haven't checked if he's a musician or stand up!

What did you think of the gig?
Really enjoyed it. Did you? He made the first 30 mins for his electronically manipulated voice songs entertaining but I couldn't have took much more of that. He looked possessed for that part. It got much better song-wise when he strapped on his guitar. Had to dash off for metro as the second Low song (Days Like These) in encore ended. Was that the finish?

Yeah I found the first bit annoying but the rest was fantastic. Enjoyed the support as well. We stayed till the end and got a taxi back.

I think he's a poet first and foremost. Saw him supporting The Comet Is Coming in Newcastle a couple of years ago.

Just got an email for Tom A Smith tickets (tomorrow, Friday 15th)

Hey Alex, thanks so much for visiting us for The Futureheads live on our outdoor stage. Have you recovered yet?

If you fancy another big night out in The Parade Ground, Sunderland’s own Mackem music sensation Tom A Smith headlines our Summer Parties series tomorrow night (Friday 15 August) - and as a thank you for your support, we'd love to offer you 2-4-1 tickets.

Tom's new single Fashion was produced by Barry Hyde, he's already played Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds Festivals, supported Elton John and Catfish & The Bottlemen, and sold out shows up and down the UK. Now he’s back home with a new four-piece band and a setlist built for festival season.

He’ll be joined by indie favourites Crystal Tides, fresh from Radio 1 and a run of sold-out UK shows, and rising Sunderland talent Isabel Maria, whose soulful sound has been turning heads on the local scene.

Join us this Friday night for a special one-off show using discount code TFSTOM241.
