Or a later in life Richard burton. That's Bernie Slaven.
When he’s funny he’s really f***ing funny……I’ve been in tears many times, mainly mag related but also at our expense with methven. I’m shocked however at how utterly shit this depiction of RLB is. Looks nowt like him.Dave Squires is very overrated though isn’t he? Barely ever funny…
Or just people with a different sense of humour. Only have to look at the success of Mrs browns boys to realise that.Oh yeah I never go hunting him out – guess I’ll leave his cartoons for those easily amused

Not that straightforward, I’d say.Maybe I’ve missed all his most hilarious comic strips? I don’t go hunting his work out I have to be honest… But when I have seen them they’ve never been more than mildly funny - and often not amusing at all?
But maybe some of his fans can post some of his greatest all-time classics here so that we can all have a good laugh?
Aye. One time I was howling and it was just the way he had captured ten Haag’s desperation. I can’t remember exactly what it was. If it hits you in the right way, it’s hilarious. Not that straightforward, I’d say.
He’s not an out-and-out gag merchant. More subtle and (often) surreal than that. And it’s frequently the little details and ongoing in-jokes that are the things he does best.
More Stewart Lee than Michael McIntyre.
(Cue people jumping on the former. Happy for anyone to do the latter, mind…)
I’m a huge Stewart Lee fan – seen him live over 10 times now. And the tepid tripe that Squire churns out isn’t even in the same league. Curious, no one can really post a single thing he’s done that’s genuinely funny though…Not that straightforward, I’d say.

Yeah you can have that one then - he’s the Mrs Brown’s boys of football cartoons!I think squires stuff is quality.
agree with earlier poster some people think Mrs browns boys is hilarious some people think it’s shit and unfunny.
Same with squires - you either get it / find it funny or you don’t. And either is fine
Same for me: some gold but too many gags that don't land. Also tends to rip off old Simpsons jokes a lot which irks me.Normally one or two small 'chuckles' per cartoon for me - with the odd classic like the 'Wilder/sandwich' one
Must be shite being hard to amuse.Being easily amused is a great way of going through life, I commend it.
Haha I wrote my Simpsons comment above yours having not actually read this week's strip except for seeing the Reggie panel posted in this thread, so I didn't know there was literally a Simpsons joke in panel 2.Liked the Simpsons-Poochie reference
He's not even in the same stratosphere as Stewart Lee, in style and in my opinion substance. Not that straightforward, I’d say.

Nope.Dave Squires is very overrated though isn’t he?
