Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

are we all agreed that 2 x centre halves would make us competitive with the bottom 6 or so - now that we have our goalie and our striker?
Once we’ve got a striker with a proven record (not 2 goals) in one of Europe’s top 5 leagues that matches the quality of our midfield recruitment then, yes. Until then, you can’t hang our goal scoring season on a Chelsea loanee with 2 goals in La Liga, or a lad with a 1 in 4 record in the Championship (Mayenda) or a lad with a similar record in the Championship and a few goals in Russia.

As we’ll find out - it’s a hell of a step up.

If Lucumi wants to find somewhere else, let’s bring in Lindelhof on a free and the young Italian lad, Lorenzo Pirola we were linked with last week from Olympiakos.
A mix of youth & experience.
Lindelhof has played nearly 200 games for Man Utd and has 70 caps for Sweden and is captain.
Why not?

How about Mario Hermoso of Roma ?

Left footed Centre Back, 30 years old, currently playing for Roma, but was sent out on loan to Leverkusen in January, so may be surplus to requirements at Roma. Previously at Atletico Madrid and has caps (5) for Spain. He could be a relatively inexpensive, short-term option

Need better than Pirola. Lad from Fiorentina we were linked with, Diakite or this lad are the standard we need for the prem

As soon as I saw Lindelhof was being released I thought that was a no brainer for us, we have to get the spine of the team sorted.

I agree in principle but finding that type of striker for even the money we’ve got is a massive ask. Clubs far higher up the food chain are looking for that kind of player and they’re a dying breed in modern football.

I think we’ll bring in another player capable of playing across the front three (maybe the Moroccan lad we’re linked with that was at BL with Xhaka).

Of equal importance is to sort out the defence which still looks way short of premier league quality

That would be a decent shout actually if we could afford the salary
