Durham vs Surrey - CC Match Thread

True you have to work it out for yourself but you can only do that from watching others. I'm convinced that both Rocky and Badger developed by watching Divo from the other end. Not sure there is such a mentor at Durham today.
Sad because Ben has always struck me as a level- headed kid with an equally level-headed father.
No doubt Diva had a big impact on them especially Rocky but Mckinney is surrounded by good players. I'm not sure Having met him that Lees has the same personality as Diva but he is still one of the better opening bats on the county circuit and I would hope would be of help to Mckinney at the other end. Fingers crossed it clicks for him but now I believe he is off to the hundred. I honestly believe he would be better off opening in the 50 over comp with the instructions bat 50 overs and the rest bat around you. But sadly t20 or the hundred is so important to the modern player.

Absolutely, shift gay to open with lees and Borthwick slips into 3. No reason why it shouldn’t happen, Borthwick has arguably been the most consistent run scorer at the club this season.
Borthwick scored 4 and a duck in his last seconds match. And we had several seasons' evidence he can't cut it as a batsman in the CC any more.

The only reason I'd bring him back is Lees's awful captaincy and lack of motivational skills.

Ah yes, ‘let’s look at his most recent game and base my assumption on that’.

Look at the stats - he’s scored 646 runs for the 2nds this season averaging 49.7. He’s also scored 594 runs in the NYSD premier league at an average of 54. I’d hardly say the bloke is struggling.

There is a total lack of thought and application with the batting. Also what on our has happened to Potts been awful this season compared to his usual excellent form.

Almost like not playing for England has gotten into his head but we look rudderless at the moment and look certain to go down

Going to be 6 points from last 2 games and us needing to win 2 of our last 3 games.

NYSD runs do not translate across to CC Div 1 - his struggles in previous years in CC cricket are a greater indicator as to why he won’t get a shot.

Done my good deed for the day helping a lost Surrey fan to the ground as he wanderedthe mean streets of Holmlands Park and had attracted the attention of the fearsome curtain twitchers.

He reckons we're still in with a chance...I asked him how much he'd had to drink last night.

If yous get a partnership going this morning and set us, say, 200, id say it's 60/40 in our favour. Our batting, bar Sibs, has been shite.
Were definitely in the driving seat, but 100% you have a chance

If we look at the stats, as you say, he averaged 19.77 from 18 innings in CC Div 1 last season. McKinney who y'all want dropped is averaging 29.3 this season.

Scott's batting had been rotten for some time and there were prominent flaws (most commonly getting squared off misjudging deliveries on off stump) he seemed unable to rectify. Those weaknesses are presumably not being exposed as prominently in second xi cricket.

Now if he'd kept his arm in with the wrist spin, I'd make a strong case for him to be in the team as an all-rounder, but he simply isn't good enough to be picked as a specialist batsman any more. The fact the rest of the batsmen are struggling doesn't change that.

Unless we're going to relieve Lees of the captaincy, I can't see SB playing CC again except to cover injuries. McKinney was England U19 captain, a Lions regular, and deserves some faith.
Durhams to lose now
Clark out.

Arguably the first session we have won in the game. If we somehow manage to get another 100 runs then you never know.
