Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

Robin! Robin! Robin ROEFSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Massive pressure on a young lad to be number 1 in the premier league. Best of luck to him.

12 clean sheets last season is a solid return, especially considering the level he was playing at. But stepping into the Premier League is a whole different beast. Even Alisson, one of the league’s top keepers, managed only 10 clean sheets in 28 games.

Looking at last season’s stats, Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest) and David Raya (Arsenal) led the charts with 13 clean sheets each. Jordan Pickford followed closely with 12, while Dean Henderson got 11 for Crystal Palace. Alisson, Ederson, and Robert Sánchez all finished with 10.

So realistically, aiming for around 7 clean sheets next season seems sensible—though hitting double digits would be a huge achievement and could be key to staying up. That’s likely the benchmark he’s setting for himself.

here’s the write up

🇳🇱 GK: Robin Roefs (2002, NEC Nijmegen)

The way I like to assess goalkeepers is with my made-up Makes It Look Easy™ test. Think of the best goalkeepers in the world - Alisson, Neuer, and the like - and consider how simple they make goalkeeping look. Their routine catch is another’s spectacular save; they never look flustered.

Robin Roefs makes the difficult look easy. Bar the couple of goals he let in against Finland in the tournament opener, the 22-year-old was impressively assured in everything he did. His handling was really clean, particularly the scoops on those bobbly shots; his shuffling footwork was an outstanding detail of his game; he was quick to close angles and spread himself big and assertive catches on crosses into the box took pressure off his defenders. The techniques were textbook.

What about his ability on the ball? That was also assured. He moved it quickly and securely in build-up off both feet, while his launched kicks had an effortless height and range to them which gave his team an extra second or two to squeeze up the pitch.

His best performance was probably the semi-final against England. Harvey Elliott scored two but would’ve had four were it not for Roefs, who made a handful of sprawling saves in the first half that kept the Netherlands in with a chance. It capped an eye-catching tournament performance from a very promising goalkeeper.

Gets down well for a big lad.

Never seen him play and can never fully tell from highlights reels how good a player is so I'll trust our scouts on this one.
especially with keepers. need to see his highlight reel for commanding the box, distribution, ball at his feet under pressure etc. every keeper has spectacular saves in them. lets hope this kid is the next big thing though. clearly excellent competition for Patto just not sure he's necessarily the clear starter

We're now at:

Roefs

Hume
Ballard
Lucumi????
Reinildo

Xhaka
Diarra
Le Fee

Talbi
Adingra
New ST

We're a new striker away from a solid enough starting 11 to fight against relegation imo.

Bring in another winger and CB on top of a new striker and we're good to go. I'm convinced we will sign Lucumi
Decent, but having watched all our games so far noway is Sidiki not first on team sheet
