Forthcoming gigs.

People travel to Sunderland for this. I've never been able to make it to one yet but I think the passes usually sell well as they are priced low. As it explains on the website funding wasn't secured this year and it looks like they are just using 3 venues. I think in previous years there's been stuff on in pubs too. Was chuffed when I saw Félicia Atkinson was on. I thought I'd have to travel far to see her. Her album "Space As An Instrument" released last year is great especially on headphones. Hearing that led to me buying quite a bit of her music. The Unit Ama are very good live band although they don't have an extensive catalogue. Saw them at Split Festival years ago. I also hope to catch Sly & The Family Drone too who I've not seen before but I have their album "Moon Is Doom Backwards" which I'd first read about on the Quietus website. The only other artist I know of those that have been announced is harpist Rhodri Davies. Saw him at the Glasshouse a few months ago supporting Richard Dawson and he was good. Will need to do some homework and check out the others. Really excited for this but I understand it's not going to appeal to a lot of people.
The only thing I've ever heard about it is seeing a poster advertising last year in pop recs. I'll look into it this year

In case people aren't aware Marrapalooza, a grassroots music festival returns on Friday 8th at The Lubber Fiend and Saturday 9th August at various venues around Ouseburn, Newcastle.

Kendal had another great year.

Kaisers were a little bit tame on Thursday but still very enjoyable.

Courteeners started to really get the crowd going Friday.

Fat Boy Slim was outstanding Saturday and I honestly didn't expect that performance to be bettered.

But The Prodigy! That was possibly the best gig I've ever seen at a festival. I stood there in amazement at such an unbelievably good performance.

* Special word to the weather this morning which provided great tent flying conditions and turned the previously bone dry ground to slurry in under an hour

Thought the prodigy were excellent, fat boy slim after 40 mins was a bit samey and he did it on a pre programmed laptop. Inspiral carpets were good couldnt get neat their Tim peaks set. Saw a couple of bands in woodlands who were canny one from Hartlepool called Northern Money. Managed the indie disco until it 3 each night at 59 go me. Can’t get Sarajevo by the Ks out of my head
