England v India - Third Test, 10/07

Now that’s an interesting shout but I don’t think it will happen

I do think Smith could play up the side though

His technique is superior to Crawley and I’ve never been convinced with pope , who gets out to softly and in a repeated way

You could play smith above stokes as it stands
Just keep him at 7. No point messing him around when he’s averaging 60 there. Did the Aussies ever move Gilchrist about?

I’m going to be honest I don’t understand the calls to take the gloves away from Smith. Did the Aussies ever think about doing that with Gilchrist?

The lad is perfect at number 7 with the gloves. Maybe you could put him at 6 with another all rounder below, but I wouldn’t be having him any higher.
This

We did the plug gaps elsewhere under Bayliss and it didn't work. We should have never moved away from Stokes,Bairstow and Moeen at 6,7,8.

But we lobbed them all over the place and shoehorned Buttler in to.

Him and Stokes swapping places is the only thing to consider for me. But absolutely nee reason to move Smith if Ben think he's still best at 6.

I'd be happy enough with 400 here.

The ball has been doing quite a bit, or rather four or five of the six new balls have done quite a bit ;)
Time for Joffy to show us the batting ability he so clearly has

100% this. Don't get the clamour to move someone when they are doing so well where they are
He can bat but my collective memory of his test record is "ah fuck it" batting. He'll be motivated here though.

His batting for England until his comeback in the ODI side in the winter had been utter dog shit.

Bumrah just on another planet to anything we have. Absolutely sublime today.

Best pace bowler I've ever seen.

Time for a lie down to waste another 5 mins

Don’t worry lads the crowd have only paid over £100 a ticket and are loving it
