Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

A proven player from a huge club with vast experience is a lot different to the list you initially provided like.
It was my list. It shows we sign older players regularly, usually (I think exclusively) on frees

To suggest we don't just isn't accurate, we've always done it under the new ownership and have continued to do so this window as well. That is absolutely part of "the model" as well

Obviously now we're in the PL the calibre of those players will rise

I think it's more a case of fans thinking what a great shame that Henderson isn't wanted, but conceding that it's because he doesn't fit how we are going to play, which will probably be a very energetic and aggressive press and a counter attack.

There might be your thoughts mate, but some still have their blinkers on for a lad who left for Liverpool over a decade ago.

I'm sure the club looked at him and I'm sure there will have been a conversation at some point between the club and his reps, but for whatever the reason/s they decided against.

Brighton signed Milner and he'll be lucky if he's played 10 games in all competitions. Other than the likes of Ronaldo, there's very few who could compete at PL level and that's before you mention playing for a team that is going to be out of possession and chasing games for a long periods. It's no coincidence that we've signed CM's that are known for their energy and pace to get around the pitch and press.

Recent bumps have shown you get many big calls wrong. I'm sure this is not right but you give the impression that if the club go A you want B. You didn't like Le Bris, Speakman or our model/strategy. There doesn't tend to be anything humble about your opinion.

100% wrong, suggest you read my comments about RLB a few months after his appointment. Which big calls have I got wrong?

Yes but you’ve directly compared a player from a totally different level. Like comparing mr bean and steve jobs

Right, but that’s what people are suggesting for Henderson too. Brighton only playing Milner 10 times is deliberate. He’s not there to play week in week out, he’s there as reliable cover and a model professional with incredible experience to provide to an otherwise young dressing room.

I don’t think anyone here thinks Jordan Henderson should be playing week in week out. I doubt Brentford do either. Neither does tuchel. He brings far, far more than what he brings to the pitch. It’s well documented how vital he was behind the scenes at Liverpool and with England.

I'd have to go back to the bumps which I can't be bothered. There's was a good one where you gave a seven point list of where Sunderland were going wrong. I'm pretty sure you were negative when Le Bris was appointed. Pretty easy to be positive a few months after he was appointed. And even you would admit you're not a humble poster despite using 'imho'. For the record I was positive about Le Bris on the day he was appointed.

The statement was made that we sign young players with their best years ahead of them. I'm saying that we also sign older players on free to supplement that.

I can't see how that is debatable. We've done it every year under the owner. Going back to Batth & Pritchard through to Reinildo this summer

A free signing like Henderson would have completely fit with our "model" much like Reinildo did. (Merits of signing him aside)

If his legs haven’t gone and his wage demands aren’t too high for a 2-year contract and he’s happy not playing every game then yeah it’d have been good to get him in, as he seems a good pro and leader on the pitch.

The deal might not have happened because of any one of these didn’t line up (as well as Hendo might not have fancied it), so happy to trust the ownership’s knowledge and judgement. I lost respect for him anyway so at least this keeps things clear in the head.
