Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

It's all over SSN now too.

Without knowing the club's thinking on this, and I doubt we ever will, I can't help feeling disappointed because he could have been the heartbeat of this project.

Apart from our original players, who may not even get in the starting line up, we may have the youngest team in the EPL and someone with his nous and experience is, on paper, is just what we needed.
100 per cent spot on ,the most sensible post by far.

This thread is mental. Got people suggesting that a PL / CL winning captain would not offer experience to our young / half African squad...

Personally disappointed he's gone to Brentford, but still have full faith in Speakman and co.

Just happy this saga is over.

Think it would have been too many compromises for us to accommodate him and don’t think we were ever interested.

If he’d never played for us and we signed him today, this board would be full of people questioning why we would sign a 35 year old in the twilight of his career on those wages.

Sentimentality is a privalege of fans rather than owners.

Given that the Brentford manager is a newbie, I think this is a smart move by them.
Hendo can help the organisation, both on and off the pitch...
.... and become player manager if Andrews is sacked.

Disappointed we haven't gone in for a player of his calibre. Free agent, local lad. It made perfect sense but ultimately if the powers that be were not interested then so be it.

Someone made a good point earlier in the thread about our owners not having any sentimental attachment unlike some of us supporters. It appears that is the case.
The lack of sentiment meant they didn't really mind ripping apart the majority of the squad that got us out of L1 fairly quickly and that's why we are where we are now.

Alot of our fans would have offered the likes of Gooch, Wright, Batth, Pritchard, Mcgeady etc and extra year for purely sentimental reasons.

His legs are so gone and he's so finished that he's still getting picked for England and has been signed by an established Premier League side!

I hope this doesn't come back to bite us on the arse. Poor decision IMO.
Brentford's transfer model is shite apparently.

It's pretty clear that for whatever reason the club didn't want him, only time will tell whether they were right.

I'd have happily had him back but it looks like it's over.

Time to put this one to bed.

it would have been nice for him to come home, but being realistic we’ve got Diarra, Sadiki, Le Fee, Neil and Rigg who will all expect to play.

I’m sure if he played a different position we would have been straight in for him
He was always going to the team that gave him most £££. Bet that's what persuaded him.
There again. Coulda been the shirt

Good luck to him either way, we are building a very interesting looking squad here, cannot wait to see the lads in the top league again.

No reason to get hung up on any single player.

I wouldn't.

I would think it was a very good signing to compliment our very young squad.

It has never, ever been about sentiment for me. I honestly couldn't care less, yes nice story but so what. It was about experience and ability to retain possession and calm the game down.
