Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Disappointed we haven't gone in for a player of his calibre. Free agent, local lad. It made perfect sense but ultimately if the powers that be were not interested then so be it.

Someone made a good point earlier in the thread about our owners not having any sentimental attachment unlike some of us supporters. It appears that is the case.

Bet David Bruce is gutted from a commercial point of view. That sentimentality boosts our commercial and media presence a fair bit I reckon. All of which leads to revenue.

Disappointing but we don’t know if we were even in for him.

If we were and he’s chose to go for them then it’s not great.

If we weren’t then we have to trust the club.

Genuinely surprised by this mind, but you can’t deny the club do it their way.

Diarra, Sadiki, Neil, Rigg, Le Fee are all great options. A very talented bunch of players.

However one needs that contract signed, 2 are away for up to a month missing up to 6 games.

With Afcon feel we’re one light. Has Triantis played his way into our thinking this season? Is Browne staying? Do we feel Jones will improve quickly enough to adapt? Do we have another £20m midfielder coming in? So many questions ;)

Personally feel it’s Brentford’s gain and our loss, but only time will tell. Feel this is Speakman’s stubborn streak that we’ve complained about in the past, however his longer term decisions always seem to work out, even if we question the shorter term ones. Let’s just see how this one plays out

Id have taken him for his leadership qualities but I always assumed he'd struggle in his 30s as he relies on his athleticism.
Some players adapt. I can't pretend to know what hes like now, ive not seen him play since he left safc nevermind abroad. I liked the idea of him back for experience, I wasn't sold on the idea of him being a success here, i just knew i wouldn't enjoy seeing him turn out for anyone else

Fans are more sentimental than those in charge

What about in December when it’s a midfield of le fee, rigg, Neil and jones. For me we need another (non African) midfielder for that period at the very least. I don’t want us to line up against Leeds with our championship midfield and god forbid any of those three get injured.

Henderson would have been a good player to have in the dressing room and to cover that period but hopefully there’s someone else coming.

Then we'll get a sensible loan in no doubt.
