Leeds agree £10m for Longstaff

Whichever way you look at it, £10m for 27 year old with most of his games played in the top flight can’t be a bad deal.
Smacks of a poor poor replacement for the progressive players they really wanted but couldn’t or wouldn’t match our valuations of abd subsequently lost out on.
He’s an uninspiring bog standard bottom half player with zero sell on . They have lowered only plus to this deal ( other than us not doing it ) , is he will do a job for them in the championship in 26/27. Maybe that’s their “model”.
My Leeds supporting mate (currently in the RVI) is absolutely appalled at this signing. I am shortly heading in for visiting hour and he's asked me to bring in his Leeds top to 'cheer me up'.
I'm just as appalled at his request
Tell him we all wish him well seriously.
Oh and give him our sincere commiserations on the signing.😬

Looks like the mags were happy to get him off the books, even when they're massively short on squad numbers for the amount of games theyre going to play this coming season. The fee is also pennies for a club always complaining about having to balance the books on FFP or whatever the feck its called these days.

He was going into the last year of his contract.

Decent fee and he goes with my best wishes. Sadly, we have outgrown him as a regular member of the matchday squad.

I think the dirt have done well there mind, £10+ million for a player who was running into his last season in contract and Im happy about it cos he's a ginger shitter.
Im having Burnley, Leeds and Brentford down and we move on.
HTL
If he could score more from the runs and chances he has had he would be a very good buy for £10M! He knows where to go but can’t hit the target for toffee.
Hes scared to have a go himself incase the Georgie Nachun get on his back!

Type of signing where you don't get your money back. I just think we are playing a longer game than buying just to keep your head above the water for this season.

I'm dismissing him because I'd rather sign potential than a know bog standard player. We have plenty of average players who can make up the numbers. I only rate him in that category.
Christ he’d instantly have been our best midfielder last season…

Including Le Fee? I doubt it. Rigg has a far higher ceiling than Longstaff.

We knew we needed to strengthen in midfield. We've lost Jobe, unproven at the top level. We have signed 2 centre midfielders.

Leeds have signed 4x 26 year olds! All from clubs similar standard to where we've signed our young players from. Ours will hopefully still improve, clearly there's won't. I'm happy with our approach.

I’d still stand by it aye.
Not disagreeing with our approach. It’s exciting the way they are approaching buying players, but to dismiss players like this is crap 💩
