It’s a long time since the echo was local , it’s just paper that’s printed in Sheffield and prints old news , anything that happens over the weekend in Sunderland appears in the Wednesday edition

Yep. He's just reporting what other outlets are reporting.

It’s a sad fact that our local paper for what is many years now just copies and repeats most major SAFC news particular transfers and rumours via other outlets. They have no real “in” within the club and as much as I think Phil Smith and others are very decent lads they do seem to toe the line and are extremely careful not to upset anyone at the club.

Copley just tweeted he's just reporting other reports saying fee agreed.....wish he'd get off his arse and do some digging.
He was on Roker Report podcast yesterday and the other lads on there had to tell him that Bishop had left Sunderland to join Wimbledon and it was on the club website from earlier in the day. I really don't think he's upto much if he can't even read the website - let alone have sources in the club

Sunderland’s recruitment team are understood to have agreed the framework of a deal worth around £21.5m with their counterparts at Stamford Bridge and are trying to engineer a swift resolution to the ongoing discussions.

However, they are not the only club to have held talks with Chelsea over the Serbia international, who spent last season playing in the French top-flight with Strasbourg, where he was a team-mate of Diarra.

Bournemouth are also understood to have held advanced discussions as they look to sign a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who spent last season on loan at the Vitality Stadium, but who completed a permanent move to Arsenal from Chelsea earlier this week.

Bournemouth have discussed financial terms of their own with the Chelsea hierarchy, with two continental clubs also believed to be involved ongoing talks over Petrovic.

Sunderland officials are aware of the competition, hence their desire to hold personal talks with Petrovic and his representatives as quickly as possible. Ideally, Sunderland would like to have the situation resolved before the end of the weekend.

We've already replaced Neil and Young could step up as #2.

Young going straight into the PL 😆 and who have we replaced Neil with? Jobe has already left so Diarra takes his spot.

What about our usual injuries, then suspensions, and the new lads going off to AFCON?

I'd say losing the experince of Neil and Patto leaves us short and we'd have to spend again to just get on an equal footing.

I'm sure he openly said, "i must have missed that".

It's literally his job to not miss stuff like that

Yeah that wasn't ideal like ha

That depends if you see Neil good enough, at all. His money could be used to purchase a youngster abroad who might be a top end Premier League player or alternatively multiple players who are near the end of their career who can help the young kids along.

The equivalent signings of the likes of Zenden, Malbranque, O'Shea etc who all had a massive part to play last time we were in the top league.

They're good enough for the bench, and to step in. Bringing in a whole new squad and expecting them to gel straight away in the PL is huge. Most over our lads are still young and still improving themselves, so to me it makes sense to keep some of those foundations in place that got us to this point. If they want to stay of course.

I can't imagine pulling together "214 photos of Sunderland fans from Sunderland vs Blackburn Rovers" articles was what he envisioned from his journalism degree but you can't help feel sorry for him and Phil really. Both come across as top blokes and big fans. It must have been a dream job 20 years or more ago, building those relationships at the club to gain trust for proper links, but they're nothing more than clickbait generators for the worlds worst website, unfortunately.
