Petrovic

But then you have to spend probably more or just as much to replace them.

Far better to have them on the bench for rotation, injuries, or suspensions. No good having a great first 11 and then f#ck all on the bench ro back them up. Particularly when we're so susceptible to long term injuries.

That depends if you see Neil good enough, at all. His money could be used to purchase a youngster abroad who might be a top end Premier League player or alternatively multiple players who are near the end of their career who can help the young kids along.

The equivalent signings of the likes of Zenden, Malbranque, O'Shea etc who all had a massive part to play last time we were in the top league.

Wasn’t bothered about signing Bulks but would like to swoop for this lad. I think it’ll be tears though and he won’t sign. Lot of people clutching at straws

Petrovic deal to cost £21.5million

Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Djordje Petrovic, with multiple reports suggesting a fee of £21.5million has been agreed with Chelsea.

The 25-year-old Serbia international impressed during a loan spell at Strasbourg last season and is keen to secure regular top-flight football after limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge.
Id have way more confidence in this if it came from Phil Smith.

Copleys job at the echo is to churn out a certain amount of articles everyday to generate clicks. So he will often just report on other articles or anything slightly sunderland related. He does not get the same level of info from the club as Phil does.

But having said that, not sure he would be allowed to post “a deal is understood to be close” unless there has been a change from Phils update yesterday

Copley just tweeted he's just reporting other reports saying fee agreed.....wish he'd get off his arse and do some digging.
He won’t any digging, any true updates will come from Phil Smith and the latest he said yesterday was a deal is not advanced. Very poor from Copley to suggest otherwise if that’s not the case
He seems like a top bloke. Really decent.

However, I can't ever remember him getting an exclusive? Everything is copied and fluff pieces. I doubt it's highly paid but what a cracking role.
He gets bits and pieces but normally it’s exactly what the club wants him to report on. He’ll find out about youngsters signing new deals or details about investment at the AoL.

His exclusives are normally exclusives because they are of little interest elsewhere

You have to spend as much but the way its handled in the accounts mean we are better off doing it. For example if we sold Neil for £10mill as he's home grown that counts as £10mill profit and hits the accounts as such straight away. If we sign someone for £20mill to replace him then only a portion of the debt will hit the accounts for this daft PSR stuff. This if course could be total shite but that's the way I've read it and its why other premier league sides are prepared to sell their home grown players even if they are their better players.

You'd think the echo being the local would at least get some scoops! On another note for those that listen to the games on the radio it's about time sun FM hot the rights to the games instead of radio Newcastle!
