Petrovic

The thing with Patterson (and Neil) is on the books any sale is pure profit being academy lads, and does our FFP/PSR no harm whatsoever if they were to move on. Just saying....

But then you have to spend probably more or just as much to replace them.

Far better to have them on the bench for rotation, injuries, or suspensions. No good having a great first 11 and then f#ck all on the bench ro back them up. Particularly when we're so susceptible to long term injuries.

We've already replaced Neil and Young could step up as #2.

Exciting times, the powers that be aren't hanging about and still we have naysayers. Some people are never happy. Bring on the next signing.

It is clear that:

1. most clubs who get promoted do so with a team built for championship promotion. Once they are promoted they have to get rid of those players and buy a whole new team - this makes it hard for PSR, and also means some have to sell before they can buy. We didn't spend big on championship players, got lucky, and now we are in a much stronger position to recruit.
2. earlier this year we arrange a new line of credit, which means that cash wise we can move faster and offer better deals to get deals done

Some luck, but some very astute commercial management

Petrovic deal to cost £21.5million

Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Djordje Petrovic, with multiple reports suggesting a fee of £21.5million has been agreed with Chelsea.

The 25-year-old Serbia international impressed during a loan spell at Strasbourg last season and is keen to secure regular top-flight football after limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge.
