Nissan

Obviously man staff dont
Don’t worry man, if you’ve been there 20 years they will be offering summit soon. Pretty obvious they want rid of the original 15% staff with the drop in new starter wage and pension. Be near enough minimum wage in that place soon. Thats if they can keep their heads above water as their only saviour (that horrific leaf) has been put back again.
According to the dictionary...

RECAP -:

VERB - to repeat the main points of an explanation or a description

NOUN - the act of repeating the main points of an explanation or description

NISSAN definition - A tool used long ago with free money from Japan to pay off people who wanted to leave, usually with a £20,000, £30,000 or £50,000 lump sum (less tax on anything over £30,000)....*

Primarily used to get rid of the wasters, but also some of the older employees, which meant if you were going to retire anyway soon, then HAPPY DAYS FREE MONEY...🍾

*Note the MD has been saying for at least 5 years "YOU WON'T SEE RECAP EVER AGAIN", but some still live in hope...

Sadly even though I asked for it when I hit 55, there was none forthcoming, so I stayed longer than planned until almost 57,

Saved more up anyway than I would have got if they had given me it, didn't lose 10% of my pension and more importantly, cost them a LOT more in the process...

Not that I am bitter about it, even though it made perfect financial sense for them to give me it, when did Nissan do anything sensible, especially financially...

The rate people have been leaving the last few years there is no need to pay them to leave, even the older ones get sick eventually...
Anyway how’s team leader markymark feeling these days.
Sorry to do this but it’s your quote and a perfect example of why they haven’t a clue of what’s going on

Sorry you had to work an extra 2 years mate.

This is the 7th recap and it is used as restructuring to get the company down to the correct level of staff. Some people are in scope and some people are not. Why would the company that is cutting costs give man staff money to leave when they are needed.

You can get up to £30k of redundancy paid tax free (or at least Ive seen it with an ex director at our place ) then rest is taxable . It’s never a no brainer but if you’re sick of being there or on verge retiring a £50k pay off could be excellent news for some

Can’t see it for man staff been here 34 y if they wanted rid of us they’d of included man staff with say over 30years service, plus the fact if you take this you can’t access pension till 62 now

3 lads been refused it because they had put their retirement forms in before announcement. Oh and the good old CC haven’t had any say in it

Because they keep telling us they need to cut costs. What better way than get rid of the high long term man staff costing them a fortune in wages and pension contributions. Could get 2 new starters probably for one of them

It’s never ceased to amaze me how reliant this city is on Nissan. I’ve no problem with the factory/nissan mentality job for life etc but Christ knows what all these semi skilled people would do was it ever to close. Try being self employed for a year and see how they get on. They’d be absolutely screwed. For the record it’s merely an observation and I hope the place keeps going for the staff that rely on the place.

Don’t know if I’ve read your post wrong, but you can definitely take the £50000 offer and your pension now if you’re 55 plus.

Whilst i do agree on the skills part, the work ethic that Nissan instills does mean theyre likely to do alright on sites etc even if just labouring. I left over a decade ago though so things may have changed. 50k is decent money to take if you are 55+

But not if you have put forms in before the announcement. One lad has just walked told the manager he’s going on sick for 3 month place is a f***ing joke.Another asked for his form to be rescinded last week and they won’t even though it hasn’t been signed off( obviously they knew this was coming)

CC haven’t agreed to it either according to his rep yet we’ve seen the brief and it looks to be copy and paste from the last one 5 year ago. That’s been brought up now with them as someone is telling porkies.

Also after finding the old briefs one lad has worked out based on inflation fr the last offer it should have increased by 31% to around £66000

I can imagine you stopping people in the city centre with a clipboard asking these 😂

One of the lads in peterlee catholic club said that nobody in production will lose their job. It’s just woke office shit like diversity leaders, HR and accounts receivable

No one’s loosing their jobs it’s voluntary and anyone in production from Team Leaders and above can go

It’s not. It’ll filter down to 20 years with same criteria man staff will not be considered at all and the Compnay Council have not been involved in this either
If it keeps going downhill and nobody is buying cars they are going to have to get rid of people simple as that. They aren’t going to have people standing doing nout and paying them
