SMB Tennis thread

and playing 3-4 hours every 2 days

these 2 are going to win everything for years arent they.
zverev and fritz are 27/28, they arent getting much better. there's a few players the same age like draper but they are going to need a big step up quickly.
I suppose you never quite know what's around the corner. Djokovic was 23 when he properly started winning titles and ruining the Rafa/Federer dominance. Someone like Rune could do similar whilst there might be some 16 year old in waiting!

Draper, shelton on grass
Zverev, Musetti on clay (tsitsipas if he ever recovers, got Ivan as his coach now)
Draper, shelton, mensic, rune, zverev, medvedev on hard

Think that's the first time I've been awestruck (as cringey as it sounds ) watching tennis since that monster 100 minute third set between Rafa and Novak at RG in 2021.

Can't lie - not a massive fan of the final set breaker in a Slam final especially as early as 6-6. Play it out to 10-10 at least IMO.

Pretty much everything Draper didn’t want in that draw to happen has actually happened, that’s an absolute stinker. Draw Gods have not looked kindly on him in the last two Slams.

Avoid Opelka, Mpetshi Perricard, Hurkacz, Cilic and Diallo in the opening two rounds - Plays Cilic in R2

Avoid Bublik in R3/R4 and hope he goes into Sinner or Alcaraz’s section - Plays Bublik R3

Hope Djokovic goes into any of the other three sections - Plays Djokovic QF

R1 - Baez
R2 - Cilic
R3 - Bublik
R4 - Mensik
QF - Djokovic
SF - Sinner
F - Alcaraz

Gonna look something like that. If he makes the second week he’s done well.

They are still people he should beat

The one plus is that you'd rather meet Sinner than Alcaraz in the semis.

The draw generally isn't kind to the British players. Norrie has a tricky tie with in form Bautista Agut, Fearnley has an okay first couple of rounds and Evans if he beats Jay Clarke has Djokovic in round 2. Billy Harris has Hurkacz as well.

On the women's side, Raducanu will go to round 3 against Sabalenka at most, Boulter will struggle against Badosa and Kartal has a chance against Ostapenko, on the latter's least favourite surface, but then will meet Jabeur in round 2.

Tough draw for Sinner again, Djokovic could have a tough one if all the top seeds win.
Great draw for Alcaraz on paper

If bublik falters then Draper could make the final for me

Raducanu has the 2023 champ in R2 with Vondrousova as well, who just won a grass tournament beating Sabalenka along the way.
