The England games just verified what an uninspiring lethargic player he now is. He is well past it. We don’t need a washed out water carrier on huge wages. Can spend the money much more wisely. I’m sure Speakman, Florent and KLD will agree.

I did, he was one of England's better players. His control and passing were immaculate. He pulled Dan Burn out the shite.

It's not his fault our attacking players missed chances and were poor.

He was selected to play against some farmers. Imagine him up against an energetic dynamic Premier League midfield. His legs have gone he covers 8km a game now compared to 12k in his prime.

He was selected for an England international squad by a vastly experienced manager.

He plays a deeper role so he's no longer a box to box midfielder.

You need to stop digging.

That's the thing. We are not asking him to score a shedload or create chance after chance and play box to box with his old energy which obviously isn't there the same. A holding defensive player who can try to dictate the play and keep a cool head when we are up against it (Which we obviously will be) whilst also talking and reassuring the young lads we already have. Rigg will come on heaps and bounds under playing with him and listening to a local lad who made it to the very top as a Champions league winner who captained England as well to major finals
