Durham v Sussex (h) C.C.

They’ll declare with 19 overs left, because that means the handshakes can come. Personally, if I was Durham I’d decline the handshakes and use it as batting practice.
Yeah and hit them to all parts of tge ground even at the risk of losing wickets
Id be absolutely fuming if I was a Sussex fan who has paid good money to come up and watch this. Only one winner this week... Surrey. Honestly absolutely embarrassing and tedious this. Id be slating Durham if we did this
Absolutely....its prfessional sport....why is their no desire to win ?....they should have learnt from the first innings that Durham have a tendancy to collapse at any point in ther innings.....why not roll the dice ?

Archer must be furious mind, he's trying to get overs in his arm to push for a test place and they do this.

Wasting everyone's time.

Boring boring Sussex.
I know their first issue was probably to stabilise and save. any large risk of losing but they have shown no positive enterprise at all and days like today would put a glass eye to sleep even though it’s a flat pitch
Hope the bus breaks down on the way home and they have to spend 5 hours in a lay-by waiting for recovery

Terrible for the game of cricket full stop.

You have a absolute brilliant test match that showed positivity and intent then this.

Terrible from Sussex absolutely terrible
Maybe though there is an argument to take CC back to 5 days.......? .......i am pretty sure there would have been a result in this game if there was an extra day....similarly the England wouldnt have won over 4 days

Well just walking back into town. That was shit. Can't imagine Archer is thrilled traveling 600 miles on a bus to bowl 18 overs in 4 days. The whole intent from Sussex today was appalling. They had nothing to lose with about 50 overs to go, surely roll the dice and see if Durham collapse, their bowling attack is top class. Just a very poor advert for county cricket. This Kookaburra thing needs binning, it's serving no purpose at all. 13 points in satisfied with but that today was absolutely shit. People pay good money, time off work etc and surely it's not unreasonable to expect a little bit more is it? Id be mortified if Durham behaved like that today. Walked up with a Sussex fan from Bournemouth and he wasn't amused, he's staying over here tonight as well, expensive trip. Just not a good look today

Too right....it seems too many visiting sides come up here happy to go away with a draw when they perhaps could go away with more......dont they know how Durham like to play ?
As the sole representative of 'The Trapdoor Titans' today I think I realise why the other ten chose to do other things

That was a dreadful advertisement for County Cricket and shame on Sussex - they were even worse than Essex last season with their negativity and that's saying something.
I hope their supporters who took the time out to travel up let the appropriate people know how unacceptable today was

4 days for county cricket is sufficient imo.

It’s never been 5 days it fact it was 3 for a long time

This game been poor is purely down to Sussex terrible negativity and of course change of ball

You get the odd bad game, entertainment-wise in the CC.

Hopefully that's our only one this season. Shame we can't get rid of the Kookaburra. Quite a few draws today and that is no coincidence.

Brilliant post mate and absolutely spot on.

That bloke from Bournemouth deserves better much better.

Certainly don't seem too disappointed
I genuinely find it amazing and astonishing how they could look at it like that, incredibly negative way to look at a game of cricket

Thanks. Must admit the Sussex fans I spoke to weren't amused & social media doesn't exactly suggest some were happy either. That was dreadful today.

They were sitting just along from me. They seemed genuinely pleased to be coming away from Durham with a draw. Had their team been more positive it could very well have been a win.
