Eng vs India - First Test - 20th-24th June

Have you given thought to how much worse over rates would become if every suspected dismissal was referred to DRS.
I assume the Hawkeye technology is capable of being as near instant as it is in tennis. The only reason they do it the way they do in cricket is because it’s all part of the show. I can’t see any technical reason why it couldn’t just beep in the umpire’s ear as it does for a tennis umpire. At least when it comes to the LBW questions. You could still let them refer inside edges using the challenge system, perhaps.

But yes, if there is a reason why it has to be so much slower, then I agree it’s a bad idea because of that.
They’ve given themselves a real issue with the short ball by refusing to just see it out. Hit one for six sure but after that you’ve done the damage
And if he’d miscued the first one? You can’t choose an advance which ones you are going to mishit, and then only not play the shot on those.

What made it really brain-dead was not taking a breath after he missed the second one.

lbw decisions are much more complex than a tennis ball being in and out As are Nick's behind. I can see several reasons why it can't be instant. However,...
I assume if it could be instant it would be by now.

Had a great day, great craic around us and great cricket, left the ground at 6 and was home for 8.

Thankfully the rain we had was limited and we got to 6pm before it affected the game.
Whereabouts did you watch from ?

I really should make an effort to at least once experience a test at headingley

Absolute chaos in there via telly

I heard the trumpeter playing the stripper tune

Was somebody stripping ?
Stewards were trying to stop beer snakes and a few were chucked out when it got heated! It was probably the most interesting thing to happen bar the 2 wickets in the evening session
