SOL expansion

So, we have added Banks of the Wear and revamped BCB,
what are the extensions that people on here are adamant we don’t need?
I’d say nothing is going to happen this season.
What’s all the fuss about?

Apparently Stoke have been upgrading their concourses over the last few Seasons, that's all that needs to be done at the SOL for the time being.

I think if we don’t start well we’d be well short of capacity, you need years of stable sell outs to extend a ground or risk not being able to finance it
Nah, we will still be well over 40k at every game IMO and possibly nearer the capacity of about 46.5k than 40k.

That's because we''re just about to hit approximately 37k season tickets already sold before the corporate etc and away fans add a few 1,000 more. We'll still sell a few of the remaining match day tickets 2,500-3,000 (?) given some who can't commit to ST, or want to buy them given the few 100 singles dotted about only being available now

36,988 Home Fans
3,500 Corporate
3,000 Away Fans
43,488 Total before match day ticket sales

Main debate has been about whether or not we need more capacity. I think most people are in agreement that extra corporate might be a good idea.

A lot of the posts were bickering, anyone who was a bit apprehensive about building a second tier on the East Stand was labeled as negative. Basically you've missed nowt. 😂

There's no evidence to suggest the next generation of kids will be unable to get tickets. If games get sold out regularly then the club will likely introduce ticket resales. As we've already seen there are plenty of games, particularly mid week, where attendances are lower, so others would still have the opportunity to attend once games sell out, as season ticket holders would be able to sell their ticket. Just one idea that would negate the need for a vanity project stadium extension
A kid from Northumberland is not going to go to that bother.

We have to make it as easy as possible for kids to get into the sol.

With Saudi money we have a battle on our hands in the region. We have to be looking to maximise the benefits of relatively easily extending the SOL

The extension of the east stand to provide more boxes and corporate, for football and concerts, with c.8000 additional seats to provide easy access to tickets for all is vital to our future.

The fact we can extend the stadium relatively easily and cost effectively is our USP over Saudi United who take the piss out of their non season ticket supporters with their membership and ballot nonsense.

Build it big, generous, and inclusive and we will increase our fan base and ensure our future as the club that provides access to Premier League football for whoever wants to attend the Stadium of Light.

Couldn’t agree more mate. We have to maximise our USP. There is not a club in Europe that can extend as easily as us. Hopefully the club are at least looking at options.

37,000 season ticket holders before we have spent a penny is phenomenal

Moving them from the South Stand was a massive mistake. The stadium was built to house them there. Can't move them back now, so they are going to have to be shoehorned in somewhere where they can be segregated without the need for loads of empty seats

I did hate them in the South like. Just seemed a massive at times, but probably biased by us being shite for long periods I suppose

If you play in the PL, especially these days then you get sold out away ends and it looks class.
Play at home to Plymouth on a Tuesday night and it looks shit.

I'd love nowt more than to stay up this season and crack on with an extension because it's sold out every week.

I just don't think it'll be as cheap as people think and whether the owners are likely to do it.
Can I just ask what your "think" is in terms of actuality?

At this stage about the same as the extension you keep saying for the last year is happening and definitely being done soon.

I'll be more interested when there's actual evidence or any details people can reveal except what they've been told.
