Craft Beer

One for the Machester experts (as I've only really been amongst the taprooms and pubs specialising in craft). What's the bet pubs aesthetically that will also have a decent choice of beer (doesn't need to be craft central). Thinking places like The Pev. Cheers.

Marble Arch is lovely inside, think you’ve been there before. The Crown and Kettle looked great but has been modernised somewhat (and seems to be constantly packed), beer selection is very good though. City Arms is nice too actually, again usually a great selection on draft.

As mentioned Marble Arch, plus the City Arms and the Vine next door - old school boozers
Britons Protection - probably best interior in Manchester
The Salisbury - bit of a heavy metal pub but the cask is good
Mr Thomas's Chop House - has three Timmy Taylor on cask in mint knick
Sam's Chop House - go sit next to Lowry
Not really aesthetic but Bar Fringe is class (Belgian bar with good cask and London Black)
North Westward Ho! - not sure if you've been before but it is Pomona Islands pub, they've done a brilliant job with it
Port St Beer House - sure you've been but it's the best craft pub in the city

Really like the Salisbury! Still never done the chop houses. I like the Briton’s Protection but find the beers a bit meh, sometimes.

Was absolutely steaming the one time I went to NWH so can’t really remember it :lol:

Aye that's the one. It's a top boozer. There's yet another Irish pub opened right next to it as well, it's fine but really not worth going in. Manchester has had a silly number of Irish themed pubs open in the last year, sick of the sight of them.

NWH is properly class. Love going in there. There's a mag behind the bar mind though she is very nice!

Strong purchasing I think. Going to try supermarket Looper & West Coast alongside each other. It’s just in the fridge chilling now.

Ah nah. Although I am happy I can grab a few fridge fillers for relatively cheap now. Got a mini festival coming up in a few weeks so my Vaux & a few of them will provide my beer choices.

That Dubai Chocolate stout looks interesting - I may have to keep an eye out for that one. I got a really good stout from Asda’s 4 for 3 the other day: a Turning Point Espresso Martini stout. I wasn’t expecting much from it but it was tremendous, over 8% too. I would definitely recommend trying it.

It’s been out of stock last couple of times I’ve been in.

I tend to just bite the bullet & buy Vault City if I see it, purely because they’re consistently good. Think it’ll be my first barley wine from them like.
