Forthcoming gigs.

Seen James a few times. Their back catalogue is huge so you never know what you're going to get until the night!

Tim went right over our heads at one gig. That was class 😁
Yeah, I've not seen them since probably Gold Mother era or a little bit after, so there's a lot I've not seen live, even though I'd seen them a bunch of times at that point. I guess it being an album tour, you know what you're getting for a lot of it, and guaranteed some singles as well, judging by the description, but the deep cuts could be anything!

They're in America for all of September.

They're still class but if all you're interested in is the hits then you might be a bit disappointed. They don't tend to pander to anyone and play what they want, which might well include some obscure b sides.
I think that's a bit of a myth they peddle mind, saw them last week and for the first time it felt like they phoned it in a bit... They played Sit Down, Laid, GAWI, Sometimes, Waltzing Along, Tomorrow, Born of Frustration as they generally do

Seen them about 25 times now and I thought thought Friday in Halifax was the worst set list and possibly the most lacklustre gig I have seen them play

I could have written what you did word for word. Got soaked as well when every forecast said zero rain. Still had a great day out mind.

Mrs was really emotional because she just lost a good friend who she used to go see them with, they were playing She's a Star at the funeral and that really got to her. I was hoping that was why I didn't enjoy as much as usual.

Turned into a James love in this thread.

Having another blast now before the shower.

Next gig for me is 77 at Ryhope Beer Festivsl, Stanhope Weekender, which is loads of daft cover bands, ABBA, Oasis & stuff, then the next proper gig is the Levellers at the Fire Station. Got my normal seats.

Next up for me is Seb Lowe’s hometown gig in Oldham on Friday. I’m looking forward to this one as Alex Spencer is supporting.
Two young lads with bands that I like on one bill and the ticket price was about £15.

They are certainly popular these days . Maybe more than back then ,though they did have a bit where they cracked it .
The T shirt was a staple of a certain gang .
Never got the appeal but hats out to them

I think it was the overplaying of Sit Down in Ku club

Just stuck these on Spotify. Seb Lowe, Westerner sounds very good.
Football players is Seb’s most recent release and is very good. Alex Spencer released an EP yesterday.
I have seen Seb described as the Billy Bragg for Gen Z. Alex Spencer got a decent bit of publicity as his song Nightmares is in whatever they call the FIFA game these days.

Think they’ve fell into the genre of Charlatans, Stranglers & the Coral. They’ve done enough now to be their own band & don’t belong to a genre. They’re a band that just keep releasing good records.

I’m going to keep an eye out for them playing up here like.

I'll post if I spot anything up there. They both play support slots for bands with bigger followings. I first saw Seb about two years ago supporting Inhaler then saw Alex supporting Seb about nine months later. Alex is supporting The Sherlocks at their (postponed until October) gig at Manchester Albert Hall.

Going to this, then seeing Tom M at the FireStation about 6 weeks after that.
Be interesting to compare who does Kasabian better...

Seen them several times since theyve gone their separate ways

Serge has done a great job as a frontman but they would be better with Tom Meighan but he couldnt be kept on after what he did. TM solo shows are still excellent

Yep, saw Kasabian minus Tom a year or two back and thought Serge was totally over trying.(?) Hopefully he's settled a bit now rather than trying to do everything.
Tom with the full band last year was excellent.
Frontmen are frontmen for a reason.

As for not keeping Tom on, I'm not so sure. Think Serge wanted to be the main figure for a while and that fell into his lap.
No support given for mental issues etc.
