With the popularity of football, theres literally no reason we wouldnt get 50-55kk each week if competing in prem.

The speed at which season tickets went shows the following is there before any real success. Averaging 40k in championship already. I see no reason not to scale it up if we intend on being ambitious.

Capacity is fine. It’s not if we keep on the upward trajectory. I’ve never advocated increasing capacity other than that situation.

What would be the implications to the PC and the capacity of the sol if you put the boxes in like you’re suggesting?

SAFC is in a unique position in the premier league with the SOL being relatively easy to extend and relatively cheaply. Nobody experts the owners to start building tomorrow but I would like to hope it’s being looked at.

It hasn't been too big - it is what it is, the club owners over the last ten years or so are to blame for the crowds having taking us down to League 1. The buck stops there. But even then we were getting crowds in the high 30k's, and thank goodness we have a stadium which can hold the best part of 50k even if it does need refurbishing and upgrading.
 
The size is perfect for the PL. Tbh I can see both sides of this coin, but for me fans not being able to get a ticket should enhance how it feels to have a ST or a ticket to the game. For too long it’s just been so easy and taken for granted and I think that in part is why we see so many STs not bother on midweeks and stream out at 80 mins.

Why dont they move the away fans downstairs and make the whole north upper boxes and ancillary corporate facilities?The capacity will go down but there is enough room in the north upper to do a decent job!
 
If a stadium sells out and has to turn people away then it simply isn’t big enough. We’ll find out when the season kicks off if we need to expand the stadium.

Roker Park once held around 75,000 but I’ve been in there when 35,000 looked ok, and that was well before the Roker was cut in half.

Fortunately, the club probably employ better people than those who post on here to make important decisions regarding expansion. Personally, I’d expand the East Stand to cater for more corporate, increased concourse space and a few extra seats to keep prices cheap for kids, but that’s just me.

The works only need to be relatively minor, running power, services, trenching. The club triggered the permission shortly after the Council approved it.

The reality is that with the exception of Liverpool and United, most clubs don’t sell out every week. Even Chelsea and Arsenal have spare seats for league cup and UEFA cup matches. The point is that they fill the ground for the big games and have the additional space for corporate.

I don’t understand why some on here have such a phobia of empty seats. We will have 10k in the ground for a league cup match regardless of whether it is a 49k or 55k stadium. In the PL we would have a good chance of selling out half of our home games, and the PL should always be the long term aim for this football club.

Everton have just built a new stadium whilst flirting with relegation. They wouldn’t fill it if they got relegated either.
