Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Are you seriously expecting a high press?

It will be low block week in week out home and away imo.
The two tactics are not opposite ends of a linear scale.

A high press means pressing the opponent when they are in possession in their end of the pitch, it typically starts in the final thirdand ends once they make their way to the halfway line (assuming it was unsuccessful in turning over possession)

A low block normally starts as the ball crosses the half way line into your side of the pitch. The players drop deep into a narrow and rigid formation, allowing the opposition possession when out on the wings or far away from goal, and only attempting to disrupt play when the ball moves centrally and within striking distance.

We started last season doing both. There’s no reason we can’t employ both next season as well.

Fair comments but I just feel the high press will be viewed as too risky. Play it against good Premier League teams and if they play through it we will be very exposed. So I am suggesting it would be much more difficult this year due to the higher quality footballers of Prem opposition.

Correct

We’d all take the Saudi coin. Anyone who says otherwise is either a liar or an idiot.
I wouldn’t.
But I obviously possess some that you appear to be short of…..ie a moral backbone.
I’m far from rich, unlike Henderson and it would seem that I am not as much of an idiot as he is.
He was already rich beyond his dreams and he threw his good name away for no apparent reason.

So, bonny lad….please refrain from speaking for me.

His mentor and friend, and also one of the best footballers this country has ever had, asked him to go there to play for him. Gerrard probably gave him the big talk about making change from the inside and by example.

Let’s add “easily led’ to his CV then, if that is true.

I’m not so sure. We were very well organised when we started with the high press last year.
It depends on the personnel we play with though. When we started with Clarke, Bellingham, Rigg, Roberts, and Mayenda, there was a lot of energy and determination in there.

When we picked up a few injuries and started playing Isidor we seemed to drop the high press. I don’t think Wilson was very good at it, and the rest of the teams legs started going. Specially after Mundle got injured.

Spot on Rocky, even for great granpas like me.Its almost as if Reggie knew this would be our main tactic and drilled the squad accordingly. We are class at it and think most fans who hated it last season will be ok with it.
Mind, it's absolutely grim AF to watch when the likes of Citeh spend 10 minutes at a time tippy tapping around the edge of the box, where all 11 oppo players are.
