Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

BHH ,watching tonights video reminded me of how far away we are from a prem team.We need around 4/6 prob 6 quality players to be able to compete next season. Now we have lost Jobe,Watson,Mepham who were at Wembley before looking to improve the starting lineup,so for me Hendo is an easy decision.

Not that it is any of our business but I also love abit of gossip, is his lass from Sunderland and/or the surrounding area?

Family all live in Manchester area IIRC.
Could easily move back up here if the price is right though you would think.

I can’t see it happening personally

Along with Henderson we need at least 2 strikers, a fox in the box and a Quinn type with good heading ability and hold up play. A midfielder to replace Jobe a centre back 2 wingers and 2 full backs at a bare minimum.

This post will get a lot of abuse - probably personal and no doubt slagged stating I am clueless and then others joining in with the abuse to impress others -

But just putting this out there.....

The idea of Jordan Henderson returning to us, does tug at the heartstrings — local lad coming home to finish his career where it all began. But football isn’t won on sentiment, and right now, we have to think with our heads, not our hearts. Given the pace and physicality of the modern game, bringing Henderson back now would be a risky move.

He’s 35(when season starts), and while that age doesn’t mean finished, it does mean his peak years are behind him. The role of a midfielder these days demands constant energy — pressing, tracking back, driving play forward — and let’s be honest, Henderson’s not hitting those levels anymore. (name a sitting DM in today's modern game, and you'll be hard pressed to name one who isn't surrounded by world class talent)

Towards the end of his time at Liverpool and during his stint in Saudi Arabia (and that level is way way below even the Championship I'd say), the legs don’t move like they used to, and the pace has dropped.
Sure, his experience and leadership would be good around the dressing room — that’s not in question. But on the pitch?

That’s where the concern is. Under RLB, especially in recent weeks, with his tactical tweaks, If the high press becomes the blueprint again, He might find it tough to keep up with the tempo. Tactically, it could become a mismatch.

Then there's the issue of wages. Let’s not kid ourselves — Henderson wouldn’t come cheap. Giving a big chunk of the wage budget to someone whose best performances are probably behind him? It doesn’t feel like smart business, especially when that money could help bring in younger talent who can grow with our club.
And yes, nostalgia is powerful in football. Who doesn't love a good comeback story. But those don’t always end well. For every Ronaldo, there are plenty that don’t work out — look at Defoe’s last spell. We can’t afford to get drawn into a story at the expense of progress.

The club's moving in the right direction, building a young, hungry squad with energy and ambition. Signing Henderson now, feels like taking a step back just as we’re moving forward. Sometimes, the best way to respect the past is to let it stay there.
Are you seriously expecting a high press?

It will be low block week in week out home and away imo.

If he doesn’t want huge wages then bring him in for the experience in the dressing room. All these comments about not having the legs anymore - why assume he’ll be expected to play a full 90 and will be the only CM we go after?

Yes agree, window opens on Tuesday we need to sign them early .In the champo it didnt matter so much we could afford to wait .We cannot waste settling in process while playing prem games
