Wolves, Brentford and Burnley

Agreed.

At the moment we're way below everyone in the premiership in terms of squad spending - although I can in my more optimistic moments tell myself we have the possibility to fare better than Leeds and Burnley due to the way we all play. (yes that is the sound of clutching at straws!)

But that still doesn't even begin to address the fact that the premiership has effectively been a closed shop for the past 3 seasons and there's another huge gap to bridge to reach the standard of the worst established teams.

We need the stars to align in terms of; great recruitment, coaching, existing players developing and a bit of good fortune to give us even a chance.
Bang on mate. It's going to be so hard to stay up, we need everything to fall in line, like you say. It's not impossible though imo, Le Bris is very good tactically imo and won't try about outplay other teams, hasn't got an ego like Martin did for example at Southampton.

Brentford who finished 10th?😂

Burnley & Leeds were miles ahead of us this season. It’ll be a hell of a job just to overhaul them two.
Remember when we got promoted from L1, having finished comfortably behind Rotherham and Wigan? We were something like 20 and 30 points better than them in the Champo, the following season. It's about who is best equipped to deal with the step up.

I think we are the best equipped, as it stands, with Leeds second and Burnley third. Despite being a fair way ahead of us in the Championship season, I think there's every chance we finish above them both, as it stands - transfer dealings will obviously have an impact, so we need to get that bit right.

Them's the straws I'm clutching at!

I just hope we buy well enough to give it a good go, going back down having done well will feel very different to going down after being battered every week.

God realism is depressing!

Can't wait for some concrete info or signings so we can move on from 'talking about other teams'.

It's the waiting to see what type of signings we are going to do...will it be like Ipswich and one eye on the Championship the season after or premier league ready players? Hope we try and avoid the buying Chmapionship players route.

After our 'shopping' when Mick Mac brought us up?
Another transfer window like that would honestly 'kill' me.

I still shudder at the memory of walking away from that first home match thinking "god this is going to be a LONG season".

Aye, and our transfer business in that summer was far better than there’s, namely Amad.

Transfer dealings is a big part of the effort to overhaul them and we’ll have to get it spot on this summer. It’s not impossible and I have faith we can overhaul them (plus a PL side) but it’s gonna be a hell of a job to pull off.

We’ve got young players who are only getting better, as we did in the summer of 22. This season it’s Rigg, Hume, Mayenda, and Neil to a lesser extent. That summer it was Clarke and to a lesser extent Roberts. Hopefully Le Fee can be this summers Amad.

Wolves have sold two of their best players, but that means they have the best part of an extra £90m to play with. Their manager has looked good since he came in too.

Brentford might lose Frank and that could cause some instability, but they recruit well and seem like a well run enough to be able to replace the head coach without too much upheaval.

I thought we looked the better side both times we played Burnley. They were grinding out draws for a while but they did kick on when the time came. Can see Parker looking to go back to keeping it tight and grinding out points.

Looking at the sides in the bottom half, you'd think Spurs and Man Utd had blips and will kick on. Spurs have the Champions League as a pull, but neither side have been recruiting well and surely Amorim won't last long.

West Ham have looked inconsistent. Can't see anything changing with them. Everton seem to have found their feet in time for their new ground. Fulham are ticking along, although their manager has been linked with a move away.

Last summer felt like make or break in terms of seeing whether the manager and signings got on. This time it feels like a bit of a free shot. Exciting to see how the season goes.

So so much of what happens next season is going to be determined by what happens in the transfer window. Any team who gets it wrong will be in trouble, given the quality of the league.

Looking at the teams it’s crazy, during the Roy Keane days we could be ambitious and have a great chance of staying up. We could potentially spend 160 million and still not have much of a chance.

thought the like of Wolves might be down the bottom but even Wolves are making some great buys. Burnley, Brentford, Leeds, West Ham and us in a dog fight?

just about that first season of staying up
Is huge. Hopefully we can do it.

It's the Premier League. What do you expect?

Think Wolves could still struggle. That Nouri and Cunha are big losses for them.

How come when people are mentioning teams in the relegation battle no one is mentioning Everton I really fancy them to finally drop this year
Moyes had them clicking last year towards the end and are starting to progress with signings.

Bog standard mid table for Everton I reckon.
