just done some quick sums as they advertise floor space only, I think on average you get 100 sq ft per person so I come to around 1570 people capacityWonder what the capacity of the buildings are in total for workers , be great to see them full and people spending money in the city centre
Is that for both buildings?just done some quick sums as they advertise floor space only, I think on average you get 100 sq ft per person so I come to around 1570 people capacity
Yeah that is for bothIs that for both buildings?
That's a good number of new people working in town , add that too the civic centre and riverside housing .
With the beam, city hall, these 2 buildings , and the hospitalYeah that is for both
1 plot either side of City Hall.great additions to the city. is there much land left on the vaux for any more buildings?
yep, was just gonna say...where the 'fanzone' is will most likely be the last to be built on as the whats there atm has 7 years accepted via the planning, the plot where the maker & Faber site compound is (according to the masterplan) will be the biggest of the lot and should be getting planned out now1 plot either side of City Hall.
Exactly my thinking. Worrying that mind and you'd think this would have been thought about before building them?its been finished and signed off for a couple of months now and still empty, are they struggling to get companies in?
Advertising for a Building Manager for both buildings on LinkedIn.Exactly my thinking. Worrying that mind and you'd think this would have been thought about before building them?
Mentioned this on another thread. Newcastle has approx 23k gov jobs, second only to London. Two universities, NHS, so a lot of taxpayers money (BBC too if you want to include public money). This isnt about chips on shoulders but should Sunderland be in the running for any future government departments et al, the rest of the country, righty so in my opinion are going to say, hang on, thousands of jobs in the north east already.its been finished and signed off for a couple of months now and still empty, are they struggling to get companies in?
It was always a speculative development. Its still in the middle of a building site tbf and bridge not opened yet. I think it will have interested parties already and will slowly fill up. And yes i think the gov might put some jobs thereMentioned this on another thread. Newcastle has approx 23k gov jobs, second only to London. Would love to see Defra or whoever take Maker and Faber but for reasons above wont happen. The council building city hall helped and the businesses in the Beam but still needs more. A bit like the two blokes sitting in the pub, people walk in and out, thirty people in the pub, you get that vibrancy and everybody wants in. Hoping we can get a few big private companies in, even then a lot of them move to where the gov depts are as they provide work. Not sure what the answer is but would hate to see maker and faber stand empty. The usual its because Sunderland's a dump etc and thats not the case, its fighting with one hand tied behind its back.

Think. If they can't be filled soon they'll be filled by production companies and the like once studios are online. Not ideal but they will be successful, may just take a but longer. That said hope they find someone else soon and get others in the hsw site.It was always a speculative development. Its still in the middle of a building site tbf and bridge not opened yet.
