But still - you have to admit that Coventry City and Sheffield United were better teams. :rolleyes:

It was just their hard luck that both of them obliged the Lads with a schoolboy type back passes at critical stages of the game and that the goals that finished them off all came in the final minutes/seconds of each match.

All of that was just pure coincidence and nothing to do with being outsmarted tactically. Sunderland would never have thought of coming along with a plan .

It pretty damming when players come off the field convinced that they were the better team despite failing to win and not knowing how on earth it could have happened - and I don't mean "damming" with respect to their opposition.

Not quite. 'The 5 Reasons Sunderland sacked Mowbray' got 24K about 18 months ago. (Mowbray only left 18 months ago!? ..amazing what has happened since then)

But this video is by far the fastest/most popular one. Not surprising, we've all been lucky enough to be there at the best moment in the last 30 years.

Look, I'm extremely grateful to everyone. My over-riding principle is to think about what I want to watch and then try to make that as best I can. I'm not going to make money in any meaningful way so I am committed to things always being free and I always disable (when I remember) the google auto ads from one every 2 minutes to only having one at half time. And prompt me if I don't. I don't want to spoil the narrative. In general I want to explain, entertain and most of all I want to record how we felt at the time of games, so If I can make something honest and focus on the quality of it then the rest will follow. And the feedback/criticism people give I always try to take on-board. I'm bound to get things wrong at times.

TY everyone again. I hope that with EPL officiousness, I'm able to keep going next year, but these originally began because I wanted to watch stuff about us in League One and there was nothing on TV or the internet about our games and tactics or matches in a MOTD type of way bar the 20 seconds in the late night EFL programme. Getting back to the Premier League might now make me superfluous and if that happens then my purpose (like Frankie and Danny) in those wilderness years has been served. Let's see what next season brings.

I don't and probably never will have the ability to identify the nitty gritty tactical nuances that shapes a game. Which is where you very much come in - particularly having it from a consistent, longer term Sunderland perspective.
I don't think you will be superfluous at all - your analysis is much needed.

Is there any 'expert' media football analysis that you take heed of and admire? Are there any 'pundits' you have listened to who actually provide good analysis in your opinion?

In a game of memorable moments, Mayenda saluting the SAFC end, with his 'Orton' pose and our fans saluting him in return, just as the PA announcer credits him as goal-scorer is utterly iconic - what an epic moment and image that is!
Also the pics at the end is what it's all about, beautiful stuff.

Jonathan Wilson obviously. I've read all his stuff. And on the tv I like Pat Nevin a lot. Some of the co-commentators are good. I like Clinton Morrison and Lee Hendrie. I think they are fair and spot stuff, but even they don't get much time to talk tactics. Beyond that not really, I find that a lot of them are a bit lazy and just happy to go with the flow of opinion. It's also a problem that they don't really have time to go into depth on stuff, so they suffer in the eyes of the public from doing too much too thinly.

No one in tv is ever going to get the time/chance to dissect why Sunderland win over 20 minutes. It doesn't have broad enough appeal, but they could do better and explain concepts like press, triggers, channel, pivot, thirds and so on. This would help viewers learn more and see more and perhaps appreciate and make their own judgements better. In that regard I think current tv fails the viewer.
