Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Still a hard no from me. And it’s nowt to do with Saudi. He’s had his time at the club and we should be making the decision with the head and not the heart.

Exactly and it’s a no brainer…. Not quite sure what ‘his time’ means. It’s irrelevant he was but a kid.
We need someone like him the ultimate contemporary leader to lead our kids of today.
No. I think it’s more of an emotional one. If he wasn’t a Sunderland lad we’d be picking faults in signing a player who will be 35 when the PL season starts

If he was a Sunderland lad he wouldn’t be interested in playing for us. Don’t you see this is the god given gift being presented to us.

If he was from Liverpool there is zero chance we are going to attract Jordan Henderson.

This is as perfect a synergy as you could hope for. He probably only has two seasons in him and that won’t be every game i assume……. But that’s all we need to help give us a chance of getting established.

Think, with respect, you’re missing the point, we couldn’t afford his left foot in the championship with our wage structure, and despite what we think, why would anybody, (you and me included) work for anything less than what we’re worth in any industry, no matter how comfortable we are. Now in the premier we can probably afford both feet and his head, so if it’s right for him and us, nothing stopping us.
Plenty of players take pay cuts or less wages to join teams. A quick search shows players from Buffon to Mbappe including the likes of Alexis Sanchez. Luis Suarez took a 50% cut to go to Atletico from Barca.

Well let’s agree to disagree, I’ve been going since 1969, I love the team, the city and always loved the idea of playing for them but was never ever going to be good enough, and if they ever asked me to do it for less than I could earn doing my day job and tell them to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. Now you can take the other ground here m8, and say you would play for fuck all if you were a millionaire, and I’ll say good on you, I wouldn’t.

Not comparing them in terms of prime for prime as it's obvious to anyone with even a basic clue about football as to who has been the better player, just feels like a classic case of people on here wanting an ex-player back for the sake of it IMO. The European football aspect is a flawed argument to me because of the poor standard of the Eredivise and the fact that Ivan Toney is also in the England squad despite being in the Saudi league suggests that not everyone is getting in entirely on merit.

If he's still anything close to the player he was at his peak he'd be a brilliant signing for us, I'm just not at all convinced that he is and we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

It’s not that poor like compared to where Mvilla played like

He’s nowhere near his peak like but Doesnt means he’s not a good player and a current England international
1 decent season? It was better than decent to be fair.

It was a decent season towards the end.

People go way over the top on here like sorry

Considering it was his first season in the Premier League, and he signed late in August for a bottom 6 team, I personally thought it was a very good season from him.

Yeah it was decent but he was one cog in a very good big Sam team

He just shouldn’t be mentioned in the same conversation as Henderson even remotely

Which is probably exactly what he will have to do to play for us …. He wouldn’t do that for anyone else I would bet

If you could spec out an experienced succesful and talented midfielder, who may be available for a realistic fee, and would be exactly what this side needs right now, it would be him.

That's without the fact that he loves the lads, and would run through a wall for us.

Total no brainer, get the lad signed.

He is not just comfortable, he has wealth beyond imagination.

If he wants to come back, great. But if it is about money, he can fuck off.

With his money, I'd play for us for nowt, and so would most of us.

If we are ganna push the wage structure, it shouldn't be for a money grabbing 35 year old. We've been there before and look what happened.

People need to get over this "Henderson got paid money to play in Saudi Arabia". Are you gonna check if all your plastic products contain any derivatives of Saudi oil? Are you gonna check if your flight flying to Alicante contains any imported Saudi oil? The UAE is not much different. Are people gonna refuse to sit next to someone who's been on holiday to Dubai next?

What a load of woke wetwipes.
This post is a little bit whataboutery as the big difference is Henderson had a choice as has been explained numerous times.

If this was a mag player coming back to the mags then I'm not sure the response would be the same either so there's some club bias affecting opinion. Chances are some that are wanting him back may well have been saying different things when the rumours of Saudi first came about. This bias happens at all clubs and we'd probably have a thread taking the piss out of them saying similar to what you're saying.

I'm not comparing the mags whataboutery with their takeover by the way as it's nowt like this or that daft thread that was started. However there's no reason why people have to just dismiss it all as they use stuff that come from oil. How many people can generate their own electricity and then run an EV or have non plastic stuff etc? That's not to say that loads would if they could, it's just not an option to the masses.

He worked for nowt in the Saudi League for six months......

jesus the guy is in the England squad and has won everything in club football.
Can't believe some idiots on here wouldn't want him back.
Utterly baffling this place sometimes
As Shania Twain might say,
"So..........you play for England.
That don't impress me much"

😁😁😁

The folks not wanting to sign Henderson because of his Saudi brain fart are far too virtuous to walk amongst ordinary folk. I can understand the ones who may have reservations as to his age but he's a fit lad and his experience will be invaluable. I could see him in a Libero role with great through balls for Mayenda, Isidor and whoever else we buy.

How can anyone argue that an England international would not be an incredible signing - and that goes for any of the current England squad?

I'd completely agree that I wouldn't throw the plan out of the window at any cost, but for the right fee and wages I'd carry him here myself - he'd be a huge asset on the field and off.

I want to give as many of our squad a chance in the PL as we can, I don't want wholesale change, but we need some experience on the pitch and dressing room for the players, and support for RLB - JH would be about a perfect a fit as there could be.

yup leadership will be massively important, and someone who has won pretty much everything will be invaluable for these kids and Regis.
