Henderson as kept himself in good shape, no chasing grannie prossies or drinking till dawn, I don't think his age will be an issue.

Yeah I didn't like the Saudi thing and some of stuff he came out with was utter bollocks, but he'd be a perfect fit, we'd be daft not to sign him

He has kept himself in shape and doesn’t drink. He could join tomorrow and be the fittest in the squad.

Triantis will probably get sold. We have so many young players that we could either adapt to the PL like a duck to water or really struggle. I'm not sure we can gamble on giving triantis etc a go tbh

They made another good point of if we'd been in the prem for a year and he'd had thar loan up hibs where he's coming back as one of the players in the league then we'd be thinking champion, let's give him 15 -20 games blood him in and see how he kicks on

Why?

Regardless of him playing 5 games or all of them, simply being part of the Sunderland setup is good enough for me. Passing his knowledge to the youngsters....he's done it all.

Absolute model professional, and Sunderland through and through.

I'm really not sure the SPL is a good grounding nowadays to get players game time towards coming into a PL side.

I think he'd be in the squad if we didn't get promoted, but I have a feeling he will be moved on this summer.

I imagine we have succession planning in place for most positions in most leagues. Ie, a different plan depending on which league we are in.

When we bought Matete, it was with a view to developing him into being a first team regular in league 1. We then got promoted and so we’ve let him go out on loan to see if he developed enough to step up to the championship. We have since been promoted again and so I suspect he will now be moved on.

With Triantis, i suspect the plan was to try to incorporate him into the first team next season, but now that we have been promoted I think we will aim to get him a championship loan instead as the premier league is probably too much of a step up for him.

Depends on the player aswell. At 22, he might want to settle down somewhere. We'll soon find out.

Whilst I don’t know him personally he doesn’t come across as the type to have a “big time Charlie” attitude.
You will surely need some experience to help the young lads when it gets tough next season.
Seems like a sensible suggestion to me.
 
For all those posters who don't want anything to do with JH for his Saudi connection how did you all feel and react when PDC was our manager and his links to fascism??? For the record my guess is the vast majority of fans will not give 2 sh!ts about Saudi Arabia if JH signs not one jot me included. There are bigger things going on in the world right now which far out weigh a footballer potentially signing for his hometown club. Football and politics have no place together it's the one place you can go and for one small moment just forget about all the crazy sh!t that is going on and lose yourself in the moment just like 7 days ago.
 
I feel like the only one who thinks short term replacing Jobe with Henderson and spending the money elsewhere would be an absolute masterstroke!
We currently have talented young midfield but it if anyone thinks we can stay up with what we currently have and not add experience your wrong!
People moaning about Henderson playing in Saudi and Holland are mad. We took Defoe from Toronto at the same age and the rest is history!
Henderson is still an England international and Tuchel seen enough the last camp to add him again to this one, he would be a key player for us!
