Boro thread

That’s complete bollocks like. When you posted that, 5th Aug, we hadn’t played the first match of the season. There’s a thread on here entitled “Expect a tough start to the season”. At that point we had played Mayenda up front who’d done nothing, in fact, couldn’t get in the Hibs team the previous year & hadn’t signed Isidor yet. Even when we did sign isidor, people were saying he was a left winger & we hadn’t signed a striker, yet again.

Our manager was an unknown fella with little experience, but had just recorded a relegation. This was after what appeared to be our long term no.1 target in Will Still decided to fuck us off at the 11th hour.

Oh aye, we were on the verge of selling Jack Clarke too. Easily our best & most influential player.

Now, the point you make about the season before, again, bollocks. After qualifying for the play offs by the skin of our teeth the year before that, the ambitions were to just there again. By December it wasn’t going well & we sacked Mowbray. That was to try & keep the season & a play off challenge alive. It appears the board didn’t have a back up plan & most had given up once we realised it was Beale. The board actually gave up when they sacked him & decided not to appoint a new manager.

How you can even try & say anyone was going on like we’d already been promoted is pure fantasy.
Wrong. I posted it on 28th August.

You'd won the first 3 games of the season at that stage, and we'd won 1, drawn 1 and lost 1, hence why many on here were taking the piss.

The season before you'd lost the first 2 games and then went on a run, which had you placed well above Boro in the table. Many were taking the piss and I'd made the point that it was still early into the season and advised posters on here not to get carried away. In the end you finished 16th.

So again, going back to my post you were referring to, I was just responding to the pisstaking posts by reminding people that you'd got carried away the season before after making a strong start and it had backfired. It felt foolish at that time to be getting carried away but as I've said, the season just gone it became obvious as the season progressed that you were genuine promotion contenders this time around.

Yeah I was in the White Rose in Boro laughing like fu ck at the bar when Sevilla battered Boro in the final. Why do people pretend they like other clubs. I hate newcastle, Boro, pretty much every other club tbf. I don't hate the fans tho, well not all of them. I hope newcastle and boro keep getting relegated. I'd love us to be in the prem for the next 100 years and nufc and boro to be non league id laugh everyday.
Football is all about tribalism for me. As I said to Duracel_Funny, I don't find it weird that he likes seeing Boro do well, as he has his reasons, but equally he shouldn't find it weird that I don't like seeing Sunderland doing well.

Just had a look at your forum-fmttm
Funny they initially posted how no way would we beat Frank Lampards Coventry
Then when we did how Sheff United had been so much better than us and after pasting Bristol -“ it will actually be great to see the Mackums crying at Wembley “
Now it’s what will happen in the Prem next season-“ the Mackums will be bottom “ !
Funny old game football …( it could happen but at least we have a chance )

Take a look at this thread and you'll see that a few commented saying they had a feeling you were going to beat Sheff Utd.

It makes it even funnier seeing people pretending us winning was a good thing. "Haha they will lose every week in the PL"

Win/win situation ffs.

Yeah that was immediately before the game at weekend .
Soon after the Coventry game the comments came about Sheff Utd beating us at Wembley -now after gaining promotion ( and beating both ) it’s we will go straight back down ( we may but each time we surprise one or two !)
On another note -Could Azaz do a job in the Prem ?
His stats are v good this season?

He struggled last season when teams man-marked him. Carrick moved him out to the left for a period, hoping he'd be able to find more space.

In the Premier League he'd probably have more space but to be honest I'll be surprised if we get any offers.

Had a good read of this before finishing work. Another corker of a comment.

"The £200m will soon be eaten up by a few ‘key’ mercenaries they will sign just to hopefully reach 15 to 20 points, in many ways it is fools gold."

I'm sure if this poster was at Wembley following Bereh, he'd have been devastated at scoring a last minute winner. "Noooooooooo! I'd rather stay in the Championship with nee money and worse players! :( "

Most boro fans I know are throwing in the towel and not renewing season tickets. Some have had season tickets for about 20 years. I can see them back to 14k crowds like not too long ago. Bad start and I feel they'll have a flirt with relegation. Club needs a lift. The fans are seriously depressed, boros non rivals Sunderland getting a promotion, newcastle cup win and champions league, Leeds promotion has ruined them.

They are stagnant with no plan and no money. A strong championship next season too with wealthy clubs.

I don't get it tho them being too angry st what other clubs do, they are where they have mainly ever been. Second division club half its history and never won anything of note and came 3rd once. They are where they should be. That spell from about 94 until 2006ish where Gibson, built a new stadium from Argos, threw money at some big names, cup finals, cup win, uefa cup final was just a moment in the sun through money. Now he isn't rich enough to do it anymore and who'd want to buy them.
They need to use that academy, Teesside produces good players.

The cream rises to the top hence why sunderland passed them after a blip in league one where we should of never ended up. Big clubs always get back and don't stay down. This was our longest spell outside of the top flight, i was always confident we'd be back sooner rather than later, i cant say the same for boro.

We've had 61 seasons in the top flight and 52 in the second division, so I think it's a bit disingenuous to say we are where we have mainly ever been.

At the same time, I don't think as fans of the club we have any divine right to expect Premier League football, but seeing clubs like Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth, Palace, Wolves, Forest and Brighton establish themselves in the Premier League leaves us feeling frustrated, questioning why we can't do the same.

Sunderland and Ipswich have managed to get promoted without needing parachute payments. With the right model in place, clever recruitment and good management a club like Boro should be regarding promotion to the Premier League each season as being a realistic target.

All bigger clubs than boro in more desirable locations with bigger fanbases.
