Jobe Bellingham - post SAFC compendium

Shame to see him go but to put a positive spin on things that could be up to £30-40m coming in from the sales of just two players in Bellingham and Watson. No reason to believe the club won’t spend the money wisely at present

The fee will be the fee irrespective of how many clubs are in for him. It will be set in stone.

Also, many on here wanted the fella hung from the rafters in footballing terms last season, completely disregarding his age.

It’s been a perfect deal for all concerned.
How will the fee be set in stone if 3 clubs want him?

Considering the fact he came here ahead of other interest and signed a new deal last season ahead of a PL move... can guarantee there will be an agreed price we let him go for.

Like when Clarke went and everybody was raging at the price

Indeed but remember we aren't going to be the most attractive prospect for players wanting a PL move, due to the likelihood of a big struggle and relegation. So having the money to buy top players does not mean you are always able to. We'll have to be astute in seeking out the right players who will come and also help us step up. And sometimes hold onto those who ARE good enough, if we aren't confident of being able to replace them.

We will see. I'm confident the club will do its best to give us a fighting chance next season, but having a big pot of money to spend is only half the battle.

This, when he was subbed in the final the whole team started to play . His performance was absolutely rotten. He is far to inconsistent to be starting games in the Premiership imo.

The Premiership bit remains to be seen, one or two players will step up you do not expect, we will see

The bit about Saturday is a lazy observation with no context.
It was the substitution of Hamer the best player in the division added to us putting on more attacking players to exploit the gaps this created which allowed us to overrun a very tired Sheffield team.

Dan Neil was physically spent after running himself into ground. Yes his substitution was part of the equation that changed the game but let’s not have an unbalanced view of any player on Saturday they were all hero’s.

Neil looked tense throughout and it was reflected in his play but he still left everything on the pitch and was a massive part of the rearguard and getting to the point likes of Hamer had nothing left.
There were a number of players like that in 1973 final, and he is no less of a hero

Why not? You are a starter in the biggest league in the world. Sell for around 40m or keep and possibly have a generational talent to sell?

He could go to Dortmund or similar and get a taste of champions league football early or play a big part in our return.

He wasn’t great today. But he’s proved he’s going on to be a top player at the very top of the game. One more season Jobe.
This new "generational talent" cliche that keeps being bandied about surely means the best player of a particular generation rather than a decent player doesn't it?

How much will Birmingham get?

He will have a release clause in his contract. Anybody bidding over a certain amount he can go and talk to them.

plus there’ll likely be an agreement that he goes to the club of his choosing that are willing to meet the price, so a bidding war is unlikely.

It’s an unusual situation, but ultimately if we hadn’t agreed to certain conditions we probably wouldn’t have got him in the first place.

Not sure about the rafters stuff, the kid was desperate for a rest and we continued to bladder him.

If he is going to leave, I’d hope it’s quickly done.

Don’t want him being part of all our pre season preparations and then leave just before first game of the season or just before the window shuts.
