Cirkin issues

Was a moment when all the players were over the other side near the dugouts jumping all over each other, denis was over the other side on his own just lying on the deck looking at us all taking it tall in, i said at the time it was a bit bizarre, if he has had problems maybe he needed a few minutes on his own. Comes over like a lot of the current crop do as a good lad like.
I noticed that, we were on that side, it was though he was looking right at us.

All about opinions, but I thought he was poor against Coventry. He got skinned at will first half by Sakamoto, partly because he decided to needlessly go through him and get a yellow after 20 minutes, and I think he probably needs to be helping Le Fee for the goal. 1-0 up, just scored, have to think we should be doubling up to block crosses.

First 12 games he was superb. Then he got injured. Since then he’s been poor. Aye, he’s better than Hjelde but that’s an incredibly low bar and the bar he must clear now - being able to mark players like Bukayo Saka - is going to expose him horribly imo.

Absolutely but I mean the example is harsh, you can name every single one of our players and line them up against world class players in the prem and they say they will be horribly exposed.

That’s true, but I’m much more confident in just about any other area of the pitch.

I think Hume will make a fist of it and I think O’Nein maybe an even better first of it at RB.

At centre back - I’m not confident at all, I think defence is my main worry, but if - as we should - we play low block football, then Dan Ballard has shown himself as someone who has a chance in that system (pressing high with him is a recipe for disaster).

At goalkeeper - Patterson is good enough, other than distribution where frankly he’s not good enough even for the league we are currently in. A curious example, he needs to work on it, but he won’t let us down in terms of his keeping.

Our central midfield is our best area, though I am certainly not one of these people who is relaxed about Jobe going. We need him, he’s our great hope. Him and Le Fee are already premier quality.

Up front - while we need recruits, Mayenda and Isidor have the pace to ask questions if any defender.

So yes - left back is genuinely my biggest concern.

Noticed he similarly talked about "job done" like Jobe. Only a year left on his contract. Is he away too?

I agree with majority of that, just differ on the Cirkin situation, not saying he's ready, I'd just have him in the bracket under Hume and Jobe but above Neil, 09 worry wise.

Be interesting as to how they go about things, try to keep the squad together or bring in about 8.

This is why I’m a bit frustrated at how fast people are to give some of the lads pelters, lads like Dennis clearly hear or read what the fans say, and its not hard to imagine it getting to them. I know it’s easy to say aw whey he’s a professional, but regardless they’re human beings, and everyone just wants to feel appreciated. They’ve just given us the best end to a season since I was a bairn, so regardless, Dennis Cirkin steps up the Prem with us.

Gives some context to his performances after he came back from injury.

Clearly wasn't himself although still gives us way more balance and makes us a better side, even if not at 100%.

Brilliant, Cirkin is one of my favorite players, just a humble lad. Those two goals against west born at the hawthorns and that header at Millwall that left him suffering the after effects of concussion for months, just brilliant (the goal, not the concussion)…

Hope he is here next year and he is young enough to learn. Ore and step up. Well done Dennis, it takes more than just technical ability to achieve what the lads have done.

People underestimate how an injury can weigh you down even if you can still play.
By the end of that game we had:
Cirkin with a still bandaged wrist
Isodor with…I dunno…maybe the same?
Roberts with sore calves
Ballard with some sort of strapping on his shoulder (well - after he scored v Cov. I’d imagine it was still there)
And Luke with his arm in a sling!!
Walking wounded….and they’re the ones we know about

Losing to Arsenal and Liverpool won’t be a complete surprise like. It is not as if many other left backs cope well with the two you mention.😉
