Craft Beer

Used to love the Sunderland based names, Sauce of the Niall etc. Do they still do that?
Vaux have got a Charles St Brown, which is where their brewery is based.

They’ve just released an SAFC Pale ale with the van design of a couple of strips.

& they have a current one called Decent Days & Nights, which is based upon the Futureheads song title.

That was Bull Lane brewery, back in 2011. So no, can't get that. But it was a very good stout. If you like that sort of thing try Vaux Black Wave. Similar style and one of my favourite stouts, and I've tried hundreds.
Les loves bitter ales, and it came through in his beers. It’s nice to have variation.

Aye, everything seemed to have that bitter backbone, including HSOC, which is much better now

I don’t mean to brag, but if you run from Shields to Sunderland you get a one off brew from Vaux that definitely isn’t Decent Days & Nights with a new label on.

I am specifical

That was meant to say special. Although I have googled it & specifical is an actual word.

We went to Perivale the other week. Lovely setting if the weather's nice.
Yeah that's a great setup, doesn't feel like you're in London. Good to see it still going. Beers weren't too flash but perfectly fine.
@James anywhere I should seek out off the beaten track this weekend? Going to howling hops cos I’m going into our London offices next to West Ham, but canny happy to travel about as I’ve done Bermondsey to death …
You could do a bit of a Lea Bridge / Leyton maybe crawl. Start with Queer Brewing and Neckstamper, walk to Blondies, then jump on the bus and head over to Gravity Well (brewery), Filly Brook (very good craft bar), Arch Deli, Calamity Tank (Libertalia brewery), then walk down to Pretty Decent and the Wanstead Tap if you still have your legs under you at that stage.

Can’t be bothered to read back through to see if they’ve been mentioned, so apologies if they have, but Asda have a few canned stouts in that I’ve not seen before:

The Garden Brewery, Tama Imperial Salted Caramel and Chocolate biscuit stout - 8.1%

Salt Beer Factory, Banoffee Pud Stout - 7%

Turning Point, Gravedigger’s Biscuits Expresso Martini Stout - 8.4%

Enough there for the next 3 visits :)

Nice one. Thank you

Which Asda? Likely to be popping to Boldon one this week and the 1st and 3rd appeal quite a bit

Sounds like they’re new additions. I’ll pop in & give them a blast.

Any recommended places around London Bridge station? Down with work and will have about 5 hours to play with. Cheers.
Edit. It's a Monday, which makes a bit of a difference.

The Rake and The Blue Maid are probably all you need, two proper craft beer spots.

If you walk/bus down the road to Borough, you've got the Gladstone Arms (desi pub, well kept cask, decent keg but nothing special), and The Royal Oak (essentially Harvey's London outpost, so great for trad cask).

I live 5mins from Lea Bridge Road and I've only heard/been to Blondies out of that lot – thanks for posting!

Been to Pretty Decent before but just the one by Victoria Park.

Was very nice, always brilliant goody bags for the pier to pier race.

Can anyone tell me if these places are decent?
We are over that way (Vauxhall) early evening tomorrow quite fancy trying it.
