Durham v Hampshire (A) C.C.

Looked like a ball that didn't bounce. Bowler was lucky.

But nice to see solid a innings from both Robinson and Clarky.
A little while ago the Hants commentator said 250 was a good score on this pitch. It looks better than that I'd have thought.

Aye least we have like something,
Looks very average on the evidence so far limited range of shots and accumulator of runs hope he comes good but his bowling throughout his career is pure fill in.

Not even a wicket a game over a long period of time.

Yeah he does look limited must admit, even when Gay was struggling you can see he has some lovely shots

Rhodes is such a dilemma

If he really has been signed as a genuine all rounder than you shouldn’t need 5 other bowlers
To me he doesn't look like a Campbell style player or someone who fits into how we have played red ball cricket over the last couple of years.

Looking at his career he's someone who tends to go along at a SR below 50 and occasionally bowls the odd over as a 6th option, so it's pretty difficult to see how he can now adapt to a genuine allrounder at 30yo. Same reason why he hasn't played a T20 game for Warwickshire since 2021.

Aye fair post.

I know he captained them a while back and did well but his record is modest, it seems a strange one but maybe with McKinney they think off soon they thought they needed someone.

i agree with your point about style, feel there are plenty other players we could have targeted who want to play like how we did last few years

Rhodes is a bit of an odd signing I agree. 30 year old, seems very much a fill in bowler to get through a few overs and we already had Gay, Lees and McKinney as the top 3 so he was never going to bat in his usual position when all those 3 were available.

I wonder if he has been brought in to add to the leadership group. With Borthwick moving out of the first XI picture and Lees stepping in as captain, I wonder if they wanted someone to support Lees on the field. I think he and Rhodes are close from their Yorkshire days.

Spot on if he is not good enough to be a genuine 5th bowler then he is probably in a shoot out with say Clark and maybe one other to make the starting Xl and at the moment Clark looks the far better bat even though he has had a far more moderate career.
