Really minor annoyances

WDYJTOYTVSAGADSMII.

Those of a certain age will knar.
Whilst I got the reference, and it made me smile, I don't think the acronym in your post is correct.

I think it was 'why don't you just switch off your TV set and go and do something less boring instead', whereas the acronym in your post suggests the wording was 'turn off', and 'more interesting', but I don't think that's right.

And, yes, I am of a certain age!😉

I recall it was mostly speccy nerds.

We were already out playing football dreaming of scoring the winning goal in the cup final not fannying on with string and a bog roll.

Nailed it.

I stand corrected. 🙂

It’s a minor annoyance to me that in a variety of US tv programmes they occasionally mention ‘blood pudding’ (black pudding) as an element of the drama or the comedy, usually, but not always to illustrate how disgusting British food is or whatever.

Nobody outside of the USA has ever referred to it as Blood Pudding. Ever

The Koreans do something similar and call in blood sausage.
