Nope, four separate firms quoting £1750-£2250, inclusive of VAT. One quoted £750, but didn’t have the required attitude to adequately PAT test my house. There is no legal requirement to PAT test in the workplace never mind the home. In the workplace you need to have a scheme of electrical maintenance in place and often PAT testing is the easiest way to do this. PAT testing firms try to have your eyes out as it is easier for them to come in and blanket test everything as opposed to what is actually due. It’s money for old rope. As for PAT testing at home, never heard of it unless maybe the OP is wanting to rent it out fully furnished and wants to cover his arse. 2 grand sounds ridiculous though. Of course this could be a big whooosh by the Op.
Unbelievably expensive but guess I’ll just have to bite the bullet.
As for what’s legal and what’s not, it’s illegal to steal washing powder from Asda, but people do it. Am I going to drive to Asda, walk in and shoplift a 2kg tub of Persil? No.
