Two Bob owners

Thats all we’ve ever had..
The only one who invested any kind of decent money was Short but put muppets in charge of it.
Never willing to take the next step and change us from the so called sleeping giant to a club that can hold its own. A brief flirt under Reid in my 45 years as a supporter is pathetic.
We’re so used to watching shite we over exaggerate the talents of anyone who shows a glimpse of anything near being any good.
Rigg isn’t going to set the world alight nor Bellingham either. They’re just decent that’s all.
This club deserves better than the penny pinching swindlers we’ve had in the past. It’s a crime that we’ve struggled so badly for the last 50 years.
If by a miracle we triumph in the play offs this owner will shit himself and we’ll be the whipping boys of nxt years premier league.

Sadly very true….. Where is KLD these days!!

Not asking him to pump billions..
Just buy some established players that have half a chance to get us out of this shitty league. He has no passion for what he’s doing.
He’s got £8 million in passion that he ponies up each year so far. Maybe he wants to stop the bleeding before pissing more money down a hole.

We as fans could not give a toss about ‘ the project’ what a shit term that is for our club. Unfortunately our model is buy em low and sell em high and none of that or the money we get for them should interest us. We want success but personally I can’t see it with this owner.

OP is spot on like. We’ve done fuck all for most of our supporters lifetimes.

Even by a law of averages the mags, Southampton, Leicester, Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Wigan, Boro etc have had more to shout about.

We just consistently get it wrong.

How has this owner got it wrong?

Never fails to amaze me how bad your opinions are

It’s like you’ve woke up from a coma and are half asleep or something.

Ffs man

Yes, because he did a shite job, took us from the Premier League to League One, and destroyed the club. We still haven't fully recovered. My heart bleeds.
Short didn’t take us down to league 1, he left us in the championship with no debt. It was the chancers who bought the club & couldn’t afford it.

It wasn't. Short simply moved the last £25m into Drumaville, and then took £25m of the parachute to pay it off. The "debt free" thing was a cosmetic fiction cooked up by him and Donald.

This. The basic thrust of the OP's argument is that the function of an owner is to put his fortune (however earned) at the disposal of whichever club he owns. To be blunt, If I were a regulator, I'd prohibit all owner inputs.
We were dept free, he got the price that he was asking for, it was the muppet who bought us who couldn’t afford it which was the problem.

Good, you get promotion. Then what? The ship has sailed mate and until the regs change clubs in our position will only be yo yo teams spending bad money after bad and scrambling to 40 points, unless you hit a purple patch like Forest. Unless you do something different like you are doing.

A few established players can turn into a 250M Fulham/Forest type demand overnight. Before you know it the sensible model you have has gone and you are back in the Championship like before, with the same financial issues as before.

I get the frustration. A club of your size shouldn't be resorting to a model that a provincial club like Brentford used but thats the way it needs to be done because of how the landscape is.
There is one major flaw with this model which will 9 times out of 10 mean that it fails to achieve premiership stability…..wages. We don’t pay enough to keep our best players happy. I don’t see that changing even if we get promoted. On top of that, wether our supporters like it or not, there is a location tax that we have to pay players to chose us over London/Cheshire clubs. Until that changes we will never be an established premier league side.

OK where does that money come from? The chairman's pocket? Easy to spend someone else's cash. Do we sell assets like Watson with our fans acting like gilted lovers and crying everytime a player leaves us?
Alternatively it comes from us, I'm not paying hundreds of quid more a year for my season ticket to keep players here. We're still a working class city and people's financial commitment to the club can only stretch so far. If that stops us from being an established top flight club until a bored billionaire or despotic regime comes along then so be it
