Stoolie iirc. Terrific actor but a stoolie.
He was, yeah. Accused in 1951, refused to testify until 1953.

From wiki, this was his reasoning:

“When the facilities of the government of the United States are drawn on an individual it can be terrifying. The blacklist is just the opening gambit—being deprived of work. Your passport is confiscated. That's minor. But not being able to move without being tailed is something else. After a certain point it grows to implied as well as articulated threats, and people succumb. My wife did, and she was institutionalized. The HUAC did a deal with me. I was pretty much worn down. I had no money. I couldn't borrow. I had the expenses of taking care of the children. Why am I subjecting my loved ones to this? If it's worth dying for, and I am just as idealistic as the next fellow. But I decided it wasn't worth dying for, and if this gesture was the way of getting out of the penitentiary I'd do it. I had to be employable again.”

I guess it’s hard to be fully sure of what you’d do in those circumstances, unless you’re in that time and place.
Exactly. On Arthur Miller in particular they were saying it was Unamerican to say that conmen and corrupt officials shouldn't kill US military personnel with knowingly faulty equipment
Absurdity. They had been found to be doing just that in the early 1940s. Unbelievable attitude.

Crashout (1955)

There’s a prison break. Guards patrol the hills, shooting on sight. Six convicts hide in a small cave. They manage to leave a trail of chaos and destruction behind them as they pursue a stash of hidden money in order to build new lives.

This has a very good cast - William Bendix, William Talman, Arthur Kennedy, Luther Adler amongst them - and was very engaging throughout. I came to feel sympathy for a couple of them, but a few were just pure evil. They meet some interesting characters along the way, and get into tense situations, including some pretty violent actual and implied deaths. There’s a terrific scene in a bar, and the changing locales are great.

7.5/10

One False Move (1991) 9/10
Part neo-Noir, part neo-Western. Three criminals responsible for a string of drug-related murders in LA head to rural Arkansas. The local sheriff (Bill Paxton) is given the heads up. The criminals and the LAPD regard him as a hick out of his depth. Billy Bob Thornton stars and co-wrote the screenplay. A modern classic.

Modesty Blaise (1966) 2/10
A female James Bond, with Joseph Losey directing and Monica Vitti, Terence Stamp, and Dirk Bogarde starring. What could go wrong? The Swinging Sixties, that's what. The film tries to capture the zeitgeist, but many of the scenes appear made up on the spot. There are even musical interludes. Terence Stamp does a Michael Caine impression throughout, and Monica Vitti appears totally disinterested in the whole thing.

The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978) 8/10
Based on the novel by Thomas Keneally, who also appears. The story of a half-white, half-Aboriginal man struggling to fit in c.1900. When white society rejects him, he goes on a murderous rampage. Supporting roles for the likes of Jack Thompson, Bryan Brown, and Alf out of Home and Away.

Not a fan of the human sized predator (I refuse to say Yautja).

Plus, Christ…

Yep, rumours Elle Fanning’s character is a Weyland android.

I know Alien Romulus director Fede Alvarez has previously said that he’d love to co-direct an alien/predator crossover film with Trachtenburg, but he wouldn’t reveal the other is in the film and let it surprise the audience which would be superb tbf.

Yeah her eyes have the W in too, just seen it.

I reckon that’s on the money. Although the trailer shows what looks a lot of story to fit xenos in too

Yeah I think this films probably come too early for a crossover, but they seem to be laying the ground work.

I can’t believe they haven’t brought Arnie back in one of these sequels, although I know they’ve tried a couple times.

Aye it’s nuts we’ve only seen him on a monitor since (Busey showing Hartigan in P2).

I’d have preferred another period of history in fairness, but as you say they’re obviously doing the groundwork for AvP and different timelines would restrict that somewhat.

Fifth Element 9/10. Anyone not rating it is a proper wrangun.
Birdman -17/10. Utter utter shite that I couldn't get through. Anyone recommending it is a proper wrangun.

Never seen Dead Zone and I rate Walken so will add that to my queue.

There’s also the “clicking” sound in the background of the Alien:Earth trailer that was released recently. I’m here for all of it
