I think most teams who bowl 74 overs would give the best spinner in that country more than 4 overs.
We not talking about any spinner we talking about the best one in the country
It’s not waffling it’s a straightforward point
5,639 at the Surrey game today, great crowd.
From what I can tell there isn’t a specialist bat in test history who has a lower average and has played more testsA 4 ball duck for Crawley today
It being day 1 in the middle of April in England might have something to do with his lack of overs.I think most teams who bowl 74 overs would give the best spinner in that country more than 4 overs.

Would seem a bit daft randomly bringing the spinner on when a team are 180-7 after 48 overs and the seamers have ran through the opposition.

That isn’t from Zimbabwe anyway
Maybe. But it’s a bit worrying that statistically he’s the worst batsmen who has ever played that number of testsDon’t talk sense he has an agenda
Just for balance Bashir 1 for 67 at 5s as Gloucs get 368-3
Gets in our best XI for me. He had a poor winter and was injured before that. Been very good against India and Aussies.
Maybe. But it’s a bit worrying that statistically he’s the worst batsmen who has ever played that number of tests
Ever
Except Zimbabwe
It’s not really a manufactured stat. It’s the worst average of a specialist batsmen in test history of people who have played the same or more testsWell not really this is just some stat you’ve manufactured
A better example is to look at the average of all openers in test cricket over the last few years they ain’t as high as they used to be, that’s the reality
I also couldnt give a shit what his average is he plays fast bowling well snd we will need him in Australia

If he played it that well he wouldn't have such a shit averageWell not really this is just some stat you’ve manufactured

Im hardly doing niche things there
I hope he does well, but he’s been bloody lucky to play so many tests
If he played it that well he wouldn't have such a shit average
Why has he worse average than any openers ever with same amount of gamesIt is a manufactured fact. I mean what even criteria is that? What about all the openers we picked before him who played less tests who were all worst
Do they not count or exist because you didn’t fancy including them?
Not how it works like
Yeah you’re right he was shit against Australia my mistake, wasn’t like he was the top run scorer of anything
It’s a point that he’s been given longer than anyone else. He’s been given more chances than anyone. And still hasn’t really ever delivered consistently. It is a manufactured fact. That’s how statistics work, they interpret stuff.
Manufactured means it’s made up, it’s not. It’s a pretty simple assessment. Just because you don’t like it, it doesn’t make it untrue
I agree that the cupboard is bare on alternatives. He’s been given longer I agree but he’s better than the alternatives who would have come in
I just want him in Australia, what he averaged in Pakistan etc makes no difference to me
Obvious he needs to be totally not shot to bits by then but let’s see
There’s no doubt his partnership with Duckett works dunno why people so keen to finish that. It’s been really consistent
Good spot.Looks like duke have got their act together. Second match in and no changing of the ball going out of shape
In theory the Aussie wickets will suit him better. He’s been given longer I agree but he’s better than the alternatives who would have come in

I do wonder whether Lees would have done better under this regime, but we will never know
Guess I feel for those who haven’t really had a shot at all - Hain, Cook etc.

I agree fully with the bigger picture that Crawley and Duckett have been a better opening partnership we have had for a long time.
So can’t see them going away from that and furthermore I don’t want them too.
The ones they tried before Hameed, Sibley, Burns etc would not want to see back.
And like you say who else is they
Yeah there has to be a point where they say enough is enough.Different positions though, opening is the hardest job in test cricket and until recently, under Stokes he had done pretty well
He has a job to get us off to flyers
Bethell is the argument and then you have McKinney who will play for England at some stage
Personally I think stick with him for these 2 big series unless he completely just loses all confidence, which is possible
